i have DLed quite a lot of videos, most are either windows media player ones or quicktime vids. But about 5% of them just plain dont work. It comes up with windows media player and just playes the sound. i have tried running them with all my programs, even Dell DVD player!! when selecting properties, unlike most videos that say "windows media file" or "quicktime movie", these just say "video clip". WTF???? i downloaded winamp and other programs just to see if they would run them, but it seems nothing does!!! so what actually plays "video clips"???

oh and to secure this into the general off topic forum, i would like to say that my cat says:
"purr"

you need the proper codecs...i recommend Nimo´s Codec Pack (just search google)

Use this program, named Gspot to identify the codecs needed to play video and audio files. It's really helpful.

Yeah, what the other guys said. The most popular codes are DivX 5, AC3 (for audio), MP3 which is fully supported by current windoze, and XVID.

Don't think this post should be in here either and I'm sure as soon as Fenric notices he'll move it to art & design or summink

oh well, i know what i need to know. let them move it!!! anyway this is the most used forum so i knew id get lots of replies ;)
thx for ur help, i really apriciate it :D

Codec Packs are for idiots, really, they can mess up your gfx drivers, they messed up my ATI ones(they caused a video-conflict, whenever I played game it played upside down, so I had to remove the pack.

The best way to avoid codec problem is simply using Gspot to find out what codec it is and then D/L that individual codec.

I have?*Checks through program folders* Nope, I removed it 2 weeks after I got it, that's when t3333h conflicts started.

i got nimos codec pack, realised it f**ked up my media sounds and made them fuzzy, uninstalled them, DLed a new codec for vids from microsoft, and figured out all this did was make the screen go green when i cant play a vid. oh well :)

My DivX codec ****s up every once in a while... but I've gotten it down to a system... boot in safe mode after redownloading so I can use the installer without it ****ing up... great fun! :)

K-Lite Codec Pack Pro contains all popular cisecs, G-Spot, BS Player and many other useful thingies.
