Are there any links or knowledge out there having to do with playing video files(.AVI, .MPG, .MOV, .WMV, ect.) in-game and eminating from a specific texture?

I found an "AVI Kit" for Half-Life 1 at the "RUST" site, but I would like to do this through the Source engine.

Sincerely,

C.H.

How was Breen put up on the screens in HL2 SinglePlayer?

Was a camera of some sort that actually watched him animate in real-time?

omg just imagine the things you could do with this technology?

u could have the tv PLAYING REAL TV!!

Isn't that trancemission with alyx just befor you get the buggy an animated texture?

You make "animated" textures by telling the engine to display a bunch of images one after another. Kinda like flipbook I guess, but I haven't seen anything about movie files.

Well, one way I think it could be done is by getting a Video Decompiler and decompiling your movie frame by frame, and saving each frame as a seperate texture.

Then put an overlay where you want your movie to play, and set the Material Setting to Frame 1, or anything, doesnt really matter.
Add a Logic_Timer and have it change the Material on the overlaty very rapidly, like every .7 seconds or so? This would probably be a pain in the ass, but, it may work...

I will try this later.

Actually, DOOM3 DOES have textures that plays video, I think. Dunno how they did it, tho :(
