Never played counter strike before so I have a really simple question for you veterans out there... Is there a simple deathmatch mode or must I play in a team. Thanks in advance.

no deathmatch mode that i know about ... u play as a team but its up to u if u wanna hide behind your team or go it alone hero style

But in CSDM servers you still are on a team; you simply get respawned right after you die.
