Ok, when i first got the game around christmas, after all the annoying s**t with steam and downloading all the files and updates, i finally got it to work. I played it for ages, completed it and was generaly happy, it ran pretty smoothly on medium texture settings. Although the flashlight didnt work.
A few days ago I downloaded the newest driver for my chipset, and now it crashes when i try to play it. The valve logo goes as normal, then it goes black, then onto the 'blurry' loading screen. It stays on here for a few seconds, then the error noise comes up, and it crashes. I have to press escape once and it goes back to the desktop, nothing else (alt+tab, ctrl+alt+del) will work. Occassoinaly, an error message will flash on the screen when it goes back to the desktop, but not for long enough for me to read.
Its really starting to drive me crazy, has anyone else experienced the same problem and fixed it successfully? Because as ive played the game before successfully... i must be able to fix this problem somehow.
My specs are:
Dell dimension 2350
Intel 4 proccesser 2.4Ghz
512 MB of ram
Soundmax integregated digital audio
Windows XP home edition
Intel 82845G extreme graphics controller (chipset) (64MB)
