Hello. Please help if you can...
Ok here it goes, I was updating steam the other day and my internet connection crashed in the middle of an update. So I tryed to launch steam again and update it. But then I got an error and it goes like this.

Name: InRecvMsgData state
Program: H:\leikir\Half life 2\steam.exe
File: Src\CSClientConnection.cpp
Line: 1765

m_curRecvSate == eRecvMSgData

(press retry to debug the application - JIT debugging must be enabled)

I didn't like that much so i started looking for solutions first i deleted "ClientRegistry.blob" and tryed to update again and that didn't work the same error appeared. So I deleted "platform.gcf" and tryed to update with that but steam then tryed to connect for 2 hours so i cancelled that and decided to uninstall steam and half life 2. I installed it all over again and was sure that it would solve it. But when i launched steam another error came "couldn't load platform.gcf" then i tryed to update and launch steam again but then i got my first error (the big one up there) so I tryed to reinstall steam and hl2 many..many times on a different hard disk but the same error came but one time it changed to this error.

Name: IsInitializedOrFinished
Program: H:\leikirHalf life 2\steam.exe
File: \p4clients\rel_beta\projects\common\misc\EventloopThread.cpp
Line: 486

M_eState == eStateInitialized || m_eState == eStateFinished

(press retry to debug the application - JIT debugging must be enabled)

and sometimes this one

Name: Non-null m_pOwnedObj
Program: H:\leikir\Half Life 2\steam.exe
File: ..\..\..\Common/Misc\ThreadSafeCountedPtr.h
Line: 274

m_pOwnedObj

(press retry to debug the application - JIT debugging must be enabled)

and one time like this

Steam.exe (main exception): Win32 StructuredException at 0071000C : attempt to exexcute an instruction whose operation is not allowed in the current machine mode.

So this was getting a little funky because i uninstalled all steam files and hl2. Some people say these errors are becuase of Xfire or bitdefender but I don't have those or any that are alike. Some say it is a virus but I cleaned my computer with Avast and ad-aware. But i was wondering when i installed hl2 and steam that it never downloaded the "security files" like when i first installed it so i thought maybe they are corrupted but i can't find those files to delete.

So please help me the best you can or I will probably have to format my computer and I don't even have a windows disk :bonce:

is your half life 2 copy legal?
try completely removing steam again, and clean out the registry. remvoe all trace of steam
then re-install

yes it is legal. Can you explain to me how to clean out the registry
thanks

i got this nice program called "Ultra WinCleaner One Click" on a Computer Shopper mag (the 3 mags trial :P )
full version and all, cleans registry, all tracs of history, recently used docuements, the auto-complete on anything like searches. and also clears out temp files adn other junk, its really handy.
il see if i can find it, or look at www.majorgeeks.com they always got cool stuff

xfire

o btw, my steam-xfire combination runs perfectly fine, no problems whatsoever

well that didn't work i uninstalled steam and hl2 and cleaned the regestry then installed steam and hl2 again an the same error came thanks for you help anyway

Guess my times of Cs:Source glory will end here ;(

try installing steam without hl2 and get that working.
you could format your computer and start all over again, but assed.
it might also help to allow steam to install in its default directory
btw, on your error messages, they both gave 2 different paths
