Please help... How to get further inside the route canal

As you by now have understood I am a newbee to half life 2 in search for how to get further. I am trapped inside as follows:
I've got far past the place where the helicopter is shooting at me, ...down a canal, I am inside where there are two large rooms, with a lot of tubes/pipes. Water down below in both chambers. I have tried to go down the ladders build up barrowls to get into the tube and I have also tried the canal near the roof but am not able to jump up to it. Hello anyone..... can someone help ???

climb all the way up the ladder above the tube room, there will be a roof pipe there, jump onto that, climb across, and onto the walkway across the room, go into the other side, and there will be lots of pipes, look around in the lower part of the room for a valve, which will flood the room, allowing you to swim across the pipe in the first room

Is that where the manhacks and explosive barrels are? Otherwise, post a little more specific. Maybe a picture.

If it is, there is a valve in the next room on one of the lower pipes you need to turn. The water raises and then you can figure it out from there.

everyone gets stuck here...

see how the ladder in the main room is higher then it should be? Well climb up to teh very top, jump on the white pipe and follow it to get into the next room.

Next go down to here there is water, look around (up) and you will see a red valve, once you know where it is go back up and start jumpiin down the pipes until you get one that is diaganol from the valve, then jump onto the tube where the valve is, turn teh valve and the watre will rise.

Next go to back to the main room and go down the ladder and go into the red lit tunnel since the water u released will eventually let you swim and get inside.

In then next room you have to release all teh crap that is at the bottom to jump on it and get onto the ground.

Look slike you've gotten some good advice from others, it took me a little while to figure it out also.

Thanks a lot

I have spent the last 2 evenings with this problem, building the most impressive stair of barrowls ;-)) with no luck. I saw the valve but could not reach it, so I tought it did not matter.... again thanks a lot for the quick response...

HAHA I did that too, only the game crashed to teh desktop becasue i actually DID get there.

I got it in the next minute or so though. lol.
