when i go to start hl2 to it runs fine for a minute or two then it crashes and says it had a driver or engine error or something like that..

when i go to solve your problem i realize that you don't give us any information at all and that it really isn't that hard to screencap an error message

Yes. or get a new graphics card. I had the same problem, and fortunaltely i was about to buy a new one (it was an OLD 128MB ATi)
