Hi There people
I really need help here. My son bought HL2 on release day. Like everyone he has waited years for this game and was avidly waiting to play. We got home and installed the game. Again like most people we had a hard time getting steam to do its bit but it eventually said it was done and gave us a count down to start the game. When the game started it said that the radeon drivers were out of date. I was using 4.9’s but decided to go with them.
The game started and we got as far as the blurry screen then it crashed and rebooted the machine.
I then updated the graphics drivers to the current 4.11’s and installed XP SP2 but it still crashes every time at the blurry screen and reboots the machine.
I have also had a wrong disc inserted message from time to time but usually it’s the crash/reboot
I am using the following…
2.2 AMD
512RAM
80HD
9800 128mb Radeon
Sound is onboard sound blaster compatible
ADSL connection.
The whole thing is really beyond a joke now.
Can anyone in the community help as valve appear to have disappeared and have not even made a statement about the amount of problems people are having with this game.
I can run Doom3, Rome total wars, Far cry, etc np but this thing that was 5 years in the making wont pass go.
Please help if you can.
