Please help me - I'm dumb : )

Okay, so this morning at 2:00 am I played HL2 just fine - with no problems. Then, like most others, I couldn't play this afternoon thanks to Valve being out of Steam. NOW, I get to the load screen with a blurry background and it just crashes to desktop with no error message at all.

I'm beggin ya !! I got a taste of this game and I need to play.
