PLEASE HELP ME with this...!!!!!

i just brought a copy of halflife 2 and i installed it on my comp. the game started very well but whenever i tried to save the game it just ge crashed and a BSOD appears and then suddenly it gets restarted.

so please can anyone tell me how to solve this problem .ALSO I DONT WANT TO USE STEAM..

MY CONFIGURATION IS p4 2.8 GHz,intel 915gav MOBO with onboard Graphics, 512 mb ram with 64 MB Shared........
