Ok, every time i go to play half life2 offline it say this game is not ready to be played in offline mode. When i go online, i try to play half Life and steam pops up the buy half life2 package menu. Ive enterd my cd key millions of times and it says you already have a cd key, buy it wont let me play it. If you know anything please help me. thank you Jacob

You must let HL2 auto update I think. When it is at 99% and says done(a bit of an oxymoron[sp?]) play it online for a few minutes to make it avalable in offline mode.

it wont let me play it at all though online or offline, every time it pulls up the buy it now package offer

if you just installed it, it needs to download updates, that's why you can't play it yet. if you're on 56k it will take a while.

its on just released games and i have dsl and it doesnt say its even updating

have you inputted your cd key? right click the Steam icon, Browse Games, REgister a Product I already own...

Maybe you already have a cd-key for HL1? Answer True/False :

Did you buy Half-Life 2?

It usually takes a while to update, annoyingly it doesn't tell you the progress so you have to keep checking steam options.

We don't even know if he has a cd-key for HL2! (Search it, he doesn't state it anywhere)
Did you buy Half-Life 2 in a box?

Yes!!! i bought the game and i have a cd key A HALF LIFE 2 CD KEY. So should i re-install the game and see if it works?

That's impossible :p True or False can only apply to a statement. Yours is a question.

True or False:
You bought Half-Life 2.

^That would be a better example.

What you need to do is right-click on the STEAM tray icon, click 'monitor' and watch what STEAM is doing. If its updating, you'll see 'currrently updating' with percentage alongside the games it's updating.

You'll have quite a few updates if you've only recently bought it, and the new CS:S update is probably putting some pressure on the STEAM servers as everyone tries to download it.
