The heading on the box is Steam in the box is the message: Please turn off 'compatibility mode': -right click steam.exe -select properties and then the rest of the instructions to turn off comp mode. Obviously, comp mode is not on, I have never used it. I am just sick!!! I cannot believe I am the only one with this problem!!! Win XP Pro sp3 MSI 7514 Core 2 Duo 6600 2048 Mb RAM Nvidia 8600 GTS 512 Mb ST3500 Hard drive

It was not enabled, so I enabled it and then disabled it. Same error message. The game was working fine with sp3 on another computer - the MB fried so I rebuilt. everything is the same except for MB. Did I give you any new clues?

It appears that I am the only one with this stupid problem and the fix is nowhere in site. Thanks for the effort kids! now where is my gun?
