Plotstopper in Episode 2

This happens to me right after the beginning of 'Our Mutual Fiend', when Alyx and her dad meet up. After that conversation where he tells Alyx and Gordon to start popping out kids, they open the elevator. Now, by rights they're supposed to go into the elevator, but in my game both of them just freeze right there. What's going on here?

Yup. No effect whatsoever. The old man just freezes right after Alyx says 'some things never change'.

Actually I have experienced a similar problem in a earlier section of Ep2, which has been occuring ever since I reformatted my comp.

Its the bit on Freeman Pontiflex that Alyx is supposed to duck under that door so to as overlook the bridge (next to the sniper rifle she comadeers)

And so then they just stand there and don't move. ****ing hilarious. You should set them on fire and say "And some things do". Clearly they were going for matrix quote there anyways.

I think that's the end of the chapter. You can start the next one from the main menu.

Use the cheats:

sv_cheat 1
sv_unlockedchapters <number>

Just be careful to turn off the cheats when you're done. Achievements don't work if cheats are enabled.

I did have some fun trying to blow Eli's head off. Creepy thing about the situation is that Alyx is still standing with a fixed smile on her face while her eyes follow me wherever I go. brr.

vikram: It's actually sometime after the beginning of the chapter? Don't think the end is that quick. But I'll probably just jump to the next chapter so I can get on with it.

It's right at the start of the chapter and unfortunately skipping it means a massive chunk of gameplay is lost.
