Anyone else have it yet? I just picked it up today.

I'll probably pick it up tomorrow. I'm actually kind of excited for it... >_>

I've been playing it for a couple days. Brings back memories from the old Red/Blue days :D

I have Pearl - started with Chimchar (Monferno now) and is lvl 32 :)

It was when it was original...now its just them trying to make new creatures, which are looking more and more like the everyday animals we see around us...

It's still a neat concept.

The game has gotten tons deeper since Red/Blue. I haven't even scratched the surface (Breeding, EV training, Underground stuff, etc) of it and it's still fun just to play the standard Pokemon experience - especially with the added online trading/battle features and whatnot.

I don't have a DS so I won't be playing it anytime soon. I like the pseudo-3D thing it has going on though. It'll probably just play the same as the previous game anyway.

I started with Chimchar too-How'd you get past the first gym? All of my Pokemon get raped by rock types (unless Plants can dominate rock types, cause I do have a planet Pokemon but I don't want to level him up unless I know that he'll actually be useful).

Haven't played a single Pokemon game since... Gold actually.
When was that released? 1999? 2000?

How much has the formula changed since then?

I remember this.

Lucid, from what my friend tells me (he is a hardcore poketard) it's the same catch and battle formula, but new elements have been added and some other things have been expanded.

Meh, not really enough to warrant me going anywhere near a DS.
*hugs his Gameboy Advance*

Red and Blue rocked but then when they kept adding more and more Pokemon it just got dumb.

It hasn't. That's what I love about it. They basically just rehash the games with new stories and new updates and yet they still manage to make it extremely fun. You should go get it right now.

Duh Grass dominates rock. Duhhhhhhh. :P

I leveled my Chimchar until he got Mach Punch or whatever his first fighting move is. I ended up leveling up a ton around there so my Infernape now owns 95% of enemy pokemon in 1 hit. Bringing up the grass starter now.

So just to be clear, does Diamond/Pearl include all the original 151 Pokemon? I only just bought it today and I've played it for a total of 10 minutes, and seen only 3 different Pokemon :P

I remember I could name all the original 150 pokemon, but you're right, the new ones do suck.

I concur, looking at them all...

I was fine with Red, Blue, Yellow, Gold, and Silver... as the Pokemon in them were still fresh creations that had fairly original traits.

Christ, I can't even believe I'm talking about this.

I haven't spoken about Pokemon since... elementary school.

I have caught you in your web of lies!

According to your profile, you were born in 1987 and would have been in Junior High starting in September 2000.

According to http://www.gamespot.com/gbc/rpg/pokemongold/index.html?q=Pokemon Gold&tag=result;title;0

Pokemon Gold/Silver was released in October of 2000

Junior High Pokemon Player! Point and laugh!

(If I had a DS I'd so be playing Pokemon Pearl/Diamond right now)

Too repetative. Loved Blue and Silver but I had to drag myself through Sapphire because it's all the same stuff again.
