I am looking for information of childrens books that are particular racist, religious (anti-arab, anti-jewish, anti-christian), or political that try to sway and brain wash children into thinking particular things, not just recent ones but also studies done on books from decades and also centuries ago.

More based on illustrated books as well.

Examples would be German school children getting anti-Jewish books during the 30's under Hitler, the Western children books that might of had an anti-Black, Anti-Native sway to them many years ago, the Anti-Arab and Anti-Jewish childrens books that are in circulation today in the middle east.

I am also looking for examples of children's books that bring together black, white, chinese characters together or different religous characters together to help promote peace amongst different cultures and different races.

Blah Blah Black Sheep was taken off stalls cos paki's got offended, bloody ridiculous.

How i see it is, if u get offended by a childrens book, it has come to that stage that u are ashamed of ur religion/colour.

I didn't know they sold Nursury Rhymes on stalls.

"Pakis". Nice.

paki's != pakistanis? i'm feeling very naive atm....

EDIT: looked it up, said its an offensive british term... Honestly, I don't see how paki is any more offensive that saying "brit" as a shortened form of "british", but alright :|

It's the context. Think of it like "spic" which is a shortened version of "Hispanic". It's still an offensive term.

Anyway, this isn't what the thread is meant to be about. Sorry Razor.

And for some stupid reason Jap is offensive :hmph:

No they did not take ba ba black sheep off the shelves, so stfu you raicst.

Its just blatent lies by the rightwing press(ie.most newspapers) to make people feel outraged about political correctness, and to make them feel like there secound class citizens, and blame black people.

Its a shame theres so many dumass's who don't see through this crap.
In my town we had 7 BNP(british National Party) members elected for our town. Its really sad.

I was confused at the people in this thread getting offended at 'paki' as well. I've honestly never heard it used in a demeaning tone.. in fact the only Pakistani person I know uses it, so I never thought of it that way. Guess you live you learn

It's pretty much limited to the UK vernacular as a derogatory/offensive term. Which is probably why you've never heard of it in that context before

I agree that it's probably not true but I'll challenge you to find proof that the story came from a right-wing newspaper. And then if you do find it, show me proof that it's just made up.

It's more likely just a story that gets banded about by the public. Like an Urban Legend.

Take my word for it; this word is insulting and derogatory in the UK.

BTW we also think fags are cigarettes :D
