I do see his point though. I wonder if his neighbor is Jack?

There's no law against hate speech, however. So shut the **** up.

What, you guys don't have laws prohibiting the promotion of violence?

But anyway, florida comprimised.

depending where you live ...canada has a laws against hate speech but the politician's comparison doesnt quite work out because video games dont incite you to go out and commit crimes ...no more than a movie would

Hate speech has to be directed at a certain group of people, I don't see GTA telling people to go out and kill blacks/gays/hispanics/asians/pagans

Rockstar should go all out on their next game, make "Sim Concentration Camp"

So Haitians aren't people? :p

Anyway, yeah, it's a load of bollocks.

Hate speech is also free speech :) I could make an entire game based of exterminating white people and they couldn't do a thing.

No Haitians were killed or incited against in Vice City for their race but rather the fact that they were in a gang. It was no different than any movie. In fact, I've never played a video game that was anywhere near as violent as some movies I have watched.

qft. :(

Douglas Lowenstein, president of the Entertainment Software Association, which represents the video and computer game industry, cautioned politicians not to overreact, reminding them that 85 percent of the games sold last year were deemed appropriate for children under 17. "No rating system, no parental control system will work unless the parent is engaged," he said. "But if the parent wants to be involved, wants to be informed, the tools are there."

^^

What he said.

yes. I will never think videogames are too violent until they are as violent and gory as the opening scene of Saving Private Ryan.
