This is all very complicated and I still don't understand fully what is happening but from what I have gathered we may be on the verge of the creation of what could essentially end up being multiple variations of the internet for various countries.

This explains a lot but this is still very complicated. My early opinion is that the the US and EU are just having a little fight over whose dick is bigger meanwhile countries like Iran and China have goals of censorship in mind.

ive seen this a lot recently through slashdot. i dont see whats wrong with the DNS servers being located in the US... what difference does it make? any individual nation could set up their own... its just a pointless power struggle.

The beauty of the internet is that it is global.

It'd suck if that changes. I have many foreign friends, and it would be awful to lose contact with them :-/

I don't really care as it's not essentially a service of either government/body. I prefer more to be in the US due to speed though.

Alot of other countries have much better general speed than the U.S., but we have some cool content...

The internet should be free and it should be everywhere and for everybody and it scares me to see governments and corporations moving into it.

Wait a minute, the internet will suddenly be rent asunder? AAAAARGH THE GREAT COLLAPSE IS COMING I'M GOING TO GO AND LIVE IN ANTARCTICA!

It can't be everywhere because the servers have to be somewhere, it's not really a regulation issue except for some backwords areas that are attempting censorship, it's more of a "WE WANT IT HERE TO SAY WE PWN" issue at the core.
