Do you think DoD:S will help improve DoD popularity when compared to CS and its variations?

Dammit!

... I'm sure you've noticed by now there's no poll. Of course now that I think about it this is a yes or no answer and these things have never constitituted very decent polls. A poll should have more than two options (US and most countries political elections!!!!).

So just say yes or no to the question and why.

Me I think it won't just cause there're too many CS beaotches.

I don't think it will be very popular because it's only available to a select group of Half-Life 2 buyers, namely people who bought silver or gold steam packages.

Currently there are -
49,000 people playing CS1.6
5,532 people playing CS:S

So if we calculate theres about 1/8th of the total amount of people playing CS:S as opposed to CS1.6.

IF you apply that 1/8th rule to DoD
There are currently
4,494 playing Dod 1.3 now
There might be about 560 people playing DoD:S now, if it were released.

Those are my player number projections. Also take into account bronze and HL2 voucher holders also get access to CS:S.

I do not forsee a healthy future for DoD:Source.

I think thats due to the large number of people who preordered the game or the CE, so they are waiting for 16 till they get it, i say that after the city opens, there will be 15000 people on css

Not to mention that CSS has been out for what, 4 weeks?

And CS (most people who play 1.1, 1.2 etc upgrade) has been out for like , what, 5 years?

Time will tell

Yea time will tell...I hate time

DoD:S definately wont be too impressive after playing the super-makeoverified counter strike source, and HL2. But, Hopefully it will get better and more popular after a while, cuz i think its a lot more fun than counterstrike... I wish more people would try dod and not think that its some lame third party POS :hmph: ...

I think that because the publisher of DoD (Activision) is different from Vivendi that DoD:S will only expand to those who know what DoD is and really want to buy it.

I mean that if DoD:S had been Vivendi's they could have included it in the retail box , or at least make it able to download or something like that. So people from CSS would say oh let's check it out... But this isn't the case.

There may be some contractual clause that says Valve can't give access to DoD:S for retail buyers until a year after later or something. But everyone's under an NDA meaning they can't tell us any of their plans.

Think of Opposing Force. I payed for that but now it's a free download on steam.

We'll see how it pans out.

DoD is now a CPL Game .. It's starting to become VERY popular here in Denmark.

Lets just hope that people open their eyes for DoD:Source

"Ikke sant?" :)

To be honest, I dont want half of the twats that joined Dod in retail 1.0 to join Dod:S. I would much prefer the older fans, back from 1.3b and afterwards to join, the community was much nicer back then.

I'm pretty sure that DoD:S being a full fledged multiplayer experience at the time of release instead of a progressive beta, that and the graphics/anticipation would cancel out that rule.

This is confusing but I'll give it a shot...

Pat Buchanan

Pat Buchanan

I said a joke like that at my friends house. They asked who i voted for in the election and I said, "It was really confusing and I accidently voted for Buchanan." His mom just looked at me weird and said, "It was computerised how was it confusing and who is Buchanan?" I just told them to forget it. The thing is we live in Florida so I thought they'd get it lol.

well, this means that the people buying dod:s will most likely not be the whiney bitches... I hope.
