Sorry guys im confused i, thought the poly counts for HL2 are around 2000 - 3000 polies but with this new radio announcement by gabe newell its much high, can you guys help me out.

Radio Broad Cast:"Gabe Newell had anounced this on Half-Life Radio. He had said vehicles, in minimum, will be 12,000 polygons. As for characters, they are aiming for 7,000-8,000 polygons. Buildings are basicly based on size, however I doubt they will be rather large. He had also said they are aiming for very detailed weapons, and are aiming toward 4,000-6,000 depending on size. I hope this helped you."

This has probably been brought up alot, but im used to modeling for BF-V so please help me out wontcha.

3k-4k for multiplayer player models.
4-5k for singleplayer less important player models.
6-7k for singleplayer main characters (barney, alyx, dr kliener)
I think those are the numbers.

what about ingame gun models specificly????!??

I don't know about the interview, but VERC has info on it:

http://collective.valve-erc.com/ind...06159032409491000&question=106159098641972000

We target between 3000 polygons (i.e.: headcrabs) and 7500 polygons (i.e. Alyx, the Gman) for characters and monsters, depending on function and how many we hope to have on-screen simultaneously, and we have several stages of LOD (level of detail) models with drastically reduced polygon counts for when things get smaller in screen space (further away).

We're targeting around 2000 polygons for our viewmodels (which of course do not LOD) including hands. Some current examples (final values are likely to be different):

v_crossbow.mdl: 592
v_smg2.mdl: 2854
v_smg2.mdl: 1851
v_bugbait: 1958
v_rocketlauncher: 1791
v_physics: 2298
v_shotgun: 1925
