yah i need to go somewhere right now so i didnt have time to see if there were other threads about this (sry in advance)

well i finally got orange box  and started to play team fortress 2
i was surprised i could actually run it seeing as i have a x1300 radeon

when i first went to a server i started to lag moderately and since tf2 is a fast paced game it was started to get on my nerves

my video settings are great but the fps sucks
my ping on tf2 servers are usually <25

what can i do to improve my fps?:hmph:

im still lagging....whts the command for console to look at your fps ingame
and can you tell me the average fps you guys have

cl_showfps 2

I'm not exactly sure what my average fps is, but I would aim for around 40fps.

Have you tried turning everything down to minimum, 640x480 res, low texture detail, shadow detail, no anisotropic filtering, no anti-aliasing, etc? Then if that works fine then start turning things back up/on again.

Check the ati website for the latest video drivers perhaps. You might find more recent ones available that will improve performance.

The higher your settings are, the more your computer needs to cope with, which in turn will reduce your frames per second. You need to turn your settings down alot it sounds like. For example, reduce the resolution, try 800 x 600...with settings on medium and see how that works for you.

thanks everyone after i lowered my settings i set the launch options to directx 80 and im now getting around 50 fps ;)
