Poor performance in other games

Since I installed HL2, I have gotten very, very poor performance in my other games. I reinstalled one of them, it ran just fine, then I played CS:S and after that it went back to very poor performance. I have posted this issue elsewhere in hopes of more ideas on how to resolve this. I've tried the usual trying to fix it, now I'm just looking for some obscur fix for it

It's a catch 22. I'm in a CS:S clan, but I also need to play those other games. It's one or the other right now until rig #2 comes...
