I just read this in my daily newspaper (it's a widely respected one in the country) so sorry if i don't post a source, having a hard time finding an English one. But i'm not bullshitting you.
Quick summary of article
You thought the Catholic church would have learned a lesson since the "appeasing" Hitler and Mussolini stuff before WW2. This is just one more reason to stay away form Catholicism (or any religion for that matter). They don't even try to be subtle about it.
off topic: just this morning i heard on my local radio station a song which i think could be labeled Christian rock, i'm guessing because the melody was mostly a happy one with nice bells, organs and distorted guitar plus some dude repeating (the chorus) "Amen" over and over again with a gentle voice.
Quick summary of article
The pope said in a recent bishops (word?) conference that "happy and fruitful times lay ahead" referring to the once again elected Berlusconi.
Let me remind you that Berlusconi is a rightists and in this mandate it has some members from the nationalistic party. Basically he's flirting with fascists.
Oh and it was also mentioned that the Pope is preparing an anti-abortion document which will be put forward for legislation. He also wants to have publicly financed private Catholic schools and Berlusconi agrees.
