Portal: hl2.exe - Application Error

Purchased Portal just a few hours ago.
AWESOME.
Got home, installed it.
AWESOME.
Set up steam, activated Portal.
AWESOME.
Launched Portal straight away.
VALVe guy..Source logo.. Blurry screenshot of the lab.
Loading thing disappears..
ERROR.:flame:
Says the following:

The exception Privileged instruction.

"

Re-booted computer.
Still does it.
Re-installed Portal.
Still does it.

Anybody know what's going on?
Any help would be great,

I verified the cache, but still the error consists.. Guess I'll have to contact Steam.

Thanks for the help, but I found the cause for the problem..
It's not a software issue, my Laptop uses Integrated Graphics.
Intel GMA 950.
Grr.
Turns out that's the reason for all my game problems.
My CS:S never worked, MapleStory, WoW, the only game I have really got working is Resident Evil 4.
Sigh, it sucks you cannot replace parts on a laptop.
