Possible Starcraft 2 beta by the end of 07?

Put on your skeptical goggles because rumors are swirling that StarCraft 2 is finally a reality. The Team Liquid forums have translated an article from Korean site Fighter Forum that says StarCraft 2 is on the way and a beta will be released at the end of 2007.

According to Fighter Forum, StarCraft 2 continues the story of the original and adds a new race based on Kerrigan, making a total of four races. While that wouldn't be totally off the mark, we figured the new race would be more the super-race mix between Zerg and Protoss rather than Zerg and Terran or at least the mystically advanced Xel'Naga. The three older tribes will each be receiving around two additional units.

Hmmm... interesting indeed. I want this game soooo bad.
 
Lets hope this thing finally does see the light of day. I dont care if fans cry because they think it will be unbalanced unlike the first.

also, only 2 new units per race? wtf is that? i didn't wait almost a decade for a crappy expansion pack with new graphics, i hope this IS a rumor (but that the timeframe is still accurate)!
 
Sounds like more BS. I agree. I highly doubt they are making Starcraft 2.
 
Well, Blizzard said they are working on another RTS. God, if its another warcraft game...
 
Didn't Blizzard specifically say that it wasn't another warcraft game?
 
Well at the minimum we know they are working on an unannounced PC project based on their job listings. If you tie all of the job posts together, you can get a feel that they are indeed preparing for StarCraft 2 or a Diablo 3.

Zannovere: You would be dumb if you didn't think they were making SC2. Maybe it's been put on the back burner or only had preliminary meetings, but I guarantee you that they've put some work into it. I'm guessing that it's getting full steam ahead though at their studios.
 
they WILL make another starcraft game for sure, its just a question of when, and im not too sure it might truely be this year.
 
They'll definitely make another starcraft game, but this bit of news im calling BS.

Didn't they already confirm Diablo 3's in the works?
 
No they didn't lucid. The only thing we know about Blizzards upcoming games is this:
4 unannounced games are being made.
One will be announced in 2007.

I, personally, doubt they would start putting up a beta test ad without EVERYBODY in the entire world knowing about it. I'm sure they are making SC2, but I doubt they will have a beta this year....one can hope though.
 
I cant imagine blizzard after all these years would just give us updated graphics and a new race ..sheesh sounds like an expansion. If it's a rts in the same vein as all the other rts games that has come out in the last year or so, I'll pass

This is what makes me think that this whole thing is just a rumor. And the 2 new units per race isn't bad. If they tried to go nuts with units and make too many, it would be way too hard for them to keep the perfect balance they had for the first. And that new race *Human/Zerg* would be pretty nifty, maybe they will save the Zerg/Protoss for the expansion? I don't care how the game turns out, I'll be buying it anyway. :p
 
Sounds fake, after all these years all we get is one new race?
 
I think it'll be SC announced this year with a late 2008 or early 2009 release.

That rumor isn't true, I don't think.

I think the specifics on the new race and new units is not true, but I wouldn't doubt a beta by the end of this year.

The guy who did all the balancing in SC is working on Guild Wars now, worth noting.
 
Still, hopefully all of his efforts rubbed off on the rest of Blizzard a bit. Did he work on WC3 as well, or just Starcraft?

Well there should be a new race regardless, simply due to the secret mission.
 
Beat the second to the last Zerg Mission in a certain amount of time(I think it's 5 or 10 minutes left on the clock). Then you get taken to a side mission with the protoss.

You find out Duran is not who he led you to believe he was. He is not Kerrigans Slave. He is infact combining Zerg and Protoss DNA. He gives some information on who he's working for(Many believe the Xel'Naga).

I really think it's fake. Sounds like an expansion pack. I won't play the game just for the graphics.
