Possible Steam FAQ entry

(Before you bitch, I tried to PM this to Login_Here only to be told I have to wait 5 days before I can send PMs. F.ck that sh!t. Right off.)


I bought a retail copy of HL2, and I've seen people discuss the possibility that, in the event of my HDD getting formatted, I would be unable to install off the CD a second time and would have to try and somehow download the game over my puny 56k modem. I've looked around for more info at various Valve support sites and forums, but I'm yet to find it. Can you clear this up for me? Would Steam agree to unlock a CD install a second time, or would it believe I'm attempting to pirate the game and ban me?

Just make sure you use the same Steam account. It's the same CD key being used for different accounts that sets off trouble, I think, anyway.

You can install it to as many comps as you want... and in the same breath, the same comp(even after reformat).
