This is a link to one of the few sites that has this information still posted.

It was originally on TheForce.net but was removed at the request of Lucasarts

Make of it what you will - but IF it IS real, my dreams have come true! I've always wanted to play as an Imperial in a FPS!

This is Republic commando, except it takes place during the 3rd movie.

I think it will take place between Episodes 3 and 4 when the Empire is conducting the pogrom against the Jedi.

"Jedi vs. Commando"
Hmm...that's going to be tough. If the Jedi can reflect all your shots, then you're screwed. How does Lucas Arts plan to balance this?

I want to see the death animation when you get cut in half by a jedi light saber. :D

This was in Jedi Academy :)

Hell, even if they weren't gonna make it they'll probably do it now. Thats a cool idea. :D

I love the idea!

Who didn't prefer TIE Fighter over X-Wing (though they were both great games) - there's just something special about being the bad guy.

I can't wait to shoot some Rebel scum in the face :)

I wish they'd make more games like the tie fighter or x-wing flight games, coupled with todays graphics - i can't even begin to imagine how cool they would be without soiling myself....

I prefered X-wing over Tie Fighter :|

See I prefered X-wing over TIE fighter too.

simply cause TIE fighter just got silly...

See in X-wing you were heavily outnumbered and had a true sense of desperation :)

in TIE fighter i figured it would be great cause you'd have the numbers, you'd either be dodging fire or nailing enemies...

Then the Tie Advance comes into play

WTF? its faster than the Xwing, smaller, twice the shielding... I mean come on, its a nice enough idea but its silly powerful and way way to common.

I mean if the TIE advanced was around this frackin much why wasn't it at the battle of Endor fighting to stop the fall of the empire?

'Hmmm we're going to lure the entire rebel fleet into a trap and send in the imperal fleet to deck them in! masterful planning.'

'Shall we employ the TIE advanced and various other munchie gubbins to annaliate the X-wings and such rebel scum?'

'Na continue to use the bits of tat we had before, our really good stuff we'll keep for show.'

Oh and lets not get into the TIE defender huh? :)

True true, the tie adv. and tie def. were all too powerfull - they kinda went a bit ghey on the whole balancing thing.

If you where a true star war fan you would know that they still in the testing fase when episode 6 happened. It wasnt till later that they where produced but not in mass. :) (Ive read to many Xwing books)

I like the tie fighter over the Xwing but the advanced and defender are the best!

I agree. I hope they do make another X-Wing / Tie Fighter game. I just can't identify with the units in the new trillogy (and I hope that Lucas sorts his head out for Episode III becuase the other two have been overall mediocre apart from the lightsaber battles :E ).

Speaking of the movies, has anyone else heard the rumour that Lucas has said he's doing the final three planned episodes, VII - IX?. Now THAT I could Identify with :). Esp after reading so many of the epanded universe books.

I've heard that rumor too but in all honesty, I'm sure it's just that - a rumor and that Lucas has absolutely no intention of making VII-IX. Lucas admits that he actually regrets that he ever hinted that VII-IX existed in the first place all those many many years ago (he first mentioned them sometime around the making of ESB).

I'm not sure that VII-IX should be made either. For one thing, do you really want to see Hamill, Fischer, and Ford reprising their roles? They're really really...ummm...old!

The only way GL could make VII-IX would be to use The New Jedi order of the recent books and that would mean Han and Leia's children (Jacen and Jania) and Luke and Mara's son (Ben). If you've read any of the NJO, you know that the galaxy is a very very different place than it was at the end of ROTJ

TBH starwars is overbooked :P

this is a problem that Starwars and Startrek have.

Too many authours cashing in on an idea dilutes the overall picture.

I mean with the testing phase gubbins just doesn't wash with me, the emipre lost. The Emperor died, Darthy boy died, a large number of imperal officers died. All of this isn't mentioned in TIE fighter.

Its inconcieveable that during a collapse the reminants of the empire would be able to push out several new production models that are way way superiour to the current crop. I mean TIEs are in Ep4, TIE bombers in Ep5, TIE ints in Ep6, but the TIE Advanced is both faster and more agile and better sheilded than the int and the X-wing which was ment to be stare of the art. But the defender just extracts the Urine.

See I'm not against the conception of the TIE Advanced or the TIE defender, but they're just not balanced.

Compared to that the A-Wing which is based on a stunt plane the Advanced makes it look slow.

Now for the mass produced theme of TIE fighters it doesn't make a lick of sense.

Rant over.... for now ;)
