Anyone else got a GP32 then?

I just got one of these little babies on import. Apparently less than 2000 new ones left in the world, until the european launch (who knows when?). Christ it's been out for 2 years in korea.

It's my new best friend... no seriously.

On a train journey i can watch a divx movie, play some quality free games, and listen to my mp3 collection. It's pretty much a one off price for a couple of years of goodness. Seriously i only really learnt about these a few days ago. I didn't even realise this kinda shit was possible with todays technology.

This is the dogs bollocks, it makes the GBA look like a god damn abaqus. IT's the same size, but with a bigger and MUCH MUCH better quality screen. And i think the CPU is over ten times faster... heh...

I think u should all go out and get one, before the stock runs out.

They're pretty neat - but the divx quality and available games are very questionable.

Still a cool piece of kit (but for on the move gaming a GBA wins no probs ) The mp3 player with the GP is cool tho .... and the emulators

I find the divx quality very good... esecially with GP Cinema. Very crisp and clear. Obviously compared to a 20inch monitor it's not amazing, but i'm comparing to say, a handheld TV, in which case it kicks ass. So much more clear.

And yeah, fair enough, GBA has some slightly better games. But really, how long till the GBA emulators are up and running properly? They are currently a bit pish and without optimising (10fps apparrently). And while we're talking about games...mmm... doom. I mean REAL doom, not that cut down GBA version. Along with a load of other fps convertions currently out or in development i reckon the GP32 rules all. (Also camcom are supposedly converting a few games, and if current game prices are anythign to go by, they'll be about £5). After all they've gotta be cheap cause u download straight to the console...

Personally i find playing free megadrive games, and classic fps's, on the move better than paying £35 each for GBA advance games. And then theres the neo geo emulators, GB emulators... all the free quality games....

I could go on and on.

I would say the one MAJOR drawback of the system is that young kids would possibly find it too complicated. It's hardley plug cartridge in and play... And as u need a PC to use one... it will limit console only owners.

If they do get a decent GBA emulator working on the GP32 I can see them selling quite well

I've been wanting one of these... but I'm a little overwhelmed with all the features. Like how big DivX movies can you play? What kinda memory cards does it use? Price of said cards? What Emulators does it have?

Well i have your answers

-The GP32 itself costs £99 from www.gbax.com but thats without vat. Oh and they deliver within 24 hours of u placing your order (As long as it's not a stupid time like midnight )... which i thought was amazing.
-The divx movies play at between 12 and 24 fps depending on the player u use. Yeah i scoffed at 12 fps too. That was until i saw it. TV is only 24 fps... and with the soft fading of the 12fps on an LCD screen it's freakin amazing. But still if u have a problem with it... use a better player.
-Resolution is 320x180 on the screen (I think). Well this is what the divx movies i have are encoded at. And they look great, lovely and crisp. Imagine the best handheld tv quality ever.
-It uses smartmedia cards (64mb or 128mb). A 2 hour movie fits on one 128mb card easily. I personally have 3 of them, at £20 each off amazon. 1 for a movie of my choice, one for my games, one for my mp3s.
-As for emulators, um... well... it has tons. Megadrive, Master system, NES, SNES (still a little buggy, but getting there), game boy, lynx, neo geo, spectrum, atari st, commodore 64... plus GBA is coming very soon. GBA emulltors DO exist but havn't been optomised fully yet, so are slow.
-And of course it plays mp3's.
-All the players/emmulators are easy to find on the net.. there are even some commercial games to buy, at around about £5 each. Bargin huh? Though these commercial games are sooo easy to get from non-legal sources *cough*.

Hope this answers a few peoples questions, as a few days ago my opinion to this console was "wtf? some random asian sh*t". Just wanna educate the masses.
