I think it'd be nice if postcounts were no longer publicly viewable. Your status (like "senior member") would stay inplace, but your postcount would no longer be visible.

Think it'd help with the respect problems going around the forums lately. I like the way it works on FacepunchStudios.com, and I think it'd go over very well here

I agree with both of you. I don't see whats wrong with having posts counts. Also i do think warning system would be great.

I think I read that noone has implemented a decent warning system for this version of the forum.

But still, yeah, a warning system would be nice.

The warning system we used before is available but it has many unresolved bugs. Also, whenever we upgrade the forums it's gone again until we reinstall the warning system but to do that we have to wait for the developers of the system to port it over to the new version. That means we'd have to sacrifice the latest security features (which are much more important) purely on the basis of the warning script.

Personally, I don't really care about the warning system. The way we work things now may be basic, but it's effective.

But when they are there, people think 'i want a big post count, the bigger the more respected and cool i am!' People try to reach a target in a quick time, basically spamming their way up. I think without them people wouldn't have anything to aspire towards. Personally i don't like them. User titles are nice though, they should be an alternative form for eachs personal status rather than a number, if we need such a system.

But I would like customizable user titles after a certain amount of posts. Make it high, like 3,500 or something. If people spam their way up to that number, I think the moderators will notice soon enough

Postcounts Schmostcounts. If someone's obviously spamming to up theirs, like Pacerszfan was, they can be reset (which is hilarious). But warnings, judging by the opinions of most moderators, would be great - and Chris, didn't you get them working on a test forum? I remember you banning me.

But...better user titles would be really really cool. The first one should still be noob though, so many people get hilariously pissed off with being branded 'noobs'.

It's a built in feature in VBulletin.. and lots of sites do it

Post count removals really don't do anything in my experience. I remember when they were removed it really just served as an annoyance because I was just so used to seeing that little extra information that it didn't feel right when it wasn't there.

Besides if you remove post counts but keep the ranking then anyone who will spam for a higher post count will still spam anyway to get a higher ranking.

I want more user titles, because these are too boring. I wish they weren't based on post counts though. Have we ever discussed a reputation system? You know, you can give a rep point to someone with a little icon on their post. I think that would be neat.

Limit amount of rep points you can give to one per member per day. Or week. Or maybe just give one rep point a day. Don't discard things so quickly.

Do understand the rep system anyways? Theres no point to it, people will whore it, I've seen it on several forums. Useless feature that isn't needed, I'm not "discarding things so quickly."

definitely more user titles (which has been mentioned so many times), keep the post counts, and i think that the people who are known or have been here for over a year (that is a senior member) can have a bigger avatar, and have a longer sig than the rest of the members.
