Pound Sterling Symbol turns into Question Mark?

Pretty much sums it up, though I'm not sure you have noticed, but using the symbol for the pound turns into a question mark after submitting a reply. Just thought I would give you a headsup.
 
Lots of symbols don't work. I made a thread about it, it got locked...

I think its because the site is now using ASCII as opposed to unicode.
 
Why would you want to use it anyway?
This site is 90% USA dominated!
Cept for the few Euro-admins...

edit: Looked fine in the preview though.
 
The German y (u with two dotts) and the Swedish letters (aa, ae, oe) don't work either.
 
heh... I was wondering why riomhare's name was a little distorted lately.

I've chased up the problem. Although it sounds like a simple fix, it doesn't seem to be. StarMonkey has inquired further and we'll see what happens. But we are aware and on it. Same can be said for new site, at long last.
