I bought a X-Power GTX Light 580W from maplins the other day.

It was dropped from ?60 to ?30 for a deal they are doing this month.

The problem I have is that there is a main 20pin, plus 4Pin (modular) ATX connector, which you can use on new and old ATX systems.

On my 20 pin main connector, there seems to be a pin missing. Not just the pin, but also the wire that would be connected to the end of it. Now all of my other power supplies that I had (either 20 or 24 pin) have a full compliment.

If I was using all 24pins, it would be pin 17, Is this normal?

I think that's normal.

I am confused because I have seen in other forums that there are missing -5 supply pins ( in line with the latest ATX standard, because -5v are rarely used by the mobo, so some manufacturers discarded it altogether), but the one missing from mine is GND, so I wanted to check to see if there would be any problems

Is it the same one missing as on this pic?

As far as I can tell, but I've only built 2 computers. They both had PSUs with that pin missing -I think-.

I'll give a shot, I have another spare mobo on standby ;)

Yeah sorry about that, I've just realised it is the -5v line, I was looking at it from the perspective of the connector, not the mobo :(
