power supply question

You will need a micro-ATX power supply. Newegg, doesn't have a micro-ATX power supply larger than 250 Watts. What is the brand name on your power supply? If it is a reputable one, it maybe able to work just fine.

fsp group inc. and wouldnt i be able to just get the card and if im having any problems get a power supply later?

First of all, don't get a Powmax because they're the worst you can get. Now your psu may be good enough for that 9800 pro, it depends on the amperage. Open the side of your case and check the sticker on your psu, there should be one. Tell me who made it, and if you can the amperage. It should have it on the sticker. If your psu gets at least 12 amps on a +12v rail, it should be good enough.

Found it on pricewatch and went to the site, pricewatch said it was microatx but I'm not sure, the site doesn't say. Anybody know?

12 volt says 8.0a, and it is made by fsp group inc. ,,, but like i said earlier if im unable to find a micro-atx psu wouldnt i be able to just see if my psu runs the card nice, and if not i could just upgrade then

i have a p4 2.4ghz 512 mb of ram (soon 768 mb) 80 gb hd and the soon to be 9800 pro

Well, I wouldn't be too hopeful. 8 amps on a +12v rail aren't enough. Now if that Thermaltake I showed you isn't microatx, I think this will work:

Old school Shuttle psu, it's kinda longer than a lot of psu's but it's microatx and should fit. I know it says 250 watt, but this thing has a lot of power, that's why it's $67. It should even be capable of running a 6800 Ultra. Get it if nothing else good is available for microatx.

I don't want to start another thread so I'll ask here.

If you have a 9700 non pro, will x800 xt work then on the computer? I have no idea what power supply it has

I'm using a 300W for my 3.0 ghz and Sap. Rad. 9800 Pro, works swell.

I think the 9700 pro uses just as much power as the 9800 pro, and the X800 actually is less power hungry than the 9800 pro, so you're fine.

thank god!

So I'm guessing that 9700 non pro uses the same amount of power as PRO, correct?

It's not much difference between 9800 in power consumption, it's just optimiziations (Quality of parts)
