Does anyone work out using these? If so what is your experience with it, the reason I'm asking is because i was thinking about getting one. As of now i just lift weights and do push ups etc... It seem like a kinda cool way to build up arm strength but at the same time it seems kinda gimmicky, my friend tried it and said that it killed his arms but spend 40 bucks or use weights... Eh, this is really a random question.:p

I have one, but I dont work out with it. Just got it cause it was pretty fun to use when I tried my mates. Does hurt your arms after a while though.

I have seen a guy jogging whilst using a powerball at the same time.

It would likely only build up endurance, not arm strength.

Strength is based on resistance.

First thing I thought when I opened this thread was the lottery, "Powerball.."

What's a powerball? Is it like one of those thingies that automatically flexes your muscles for you?

I've got one, and it's really good for just relaxing with when you don't have anything to do. At first, your arm will probably hurt after about a minute, because the motion is pretty unique (litterally like stiring a ladle in cement). But eventually you'll get really good at pull off amazing speeds with it.

Oh, and you will get blisters if you do it too much.

Just buy some dumbbells o.0

"Just lift weights" = all you have to do to strengthen your arms. It's the only proven way.

Alrighty, well i was just trying to get some input. If i got one it wouldn't necessarily be for working out since i would just use my dumbbells. I just herd they were pretty cool little things. Anyways thanks all.

they work, you won't be able to lift heavy though, as you won't adapt your tendons and bones to the strain

Old thread bump, but I am going to be getting one of these.

I am going to utilize it as a way to build up my wrist and finger strength, which is incredibly weakened due to the unnatural and aggravated popping of my fingers(it's not the conventional type of finger popping).

Hopefully it'll help. I can barely even open jars because my fingers and wrist are so weak now, and my wrist sounds like cement mixer when I rotate it.

Plus on top of everything, I think it'll be fun to use. Probably too loud to use at night though.

Wow, Ren, Smoke, Miccy, Harij.

Meeeeeemorieeeeeeeeees.

Edit: Wait not Ren, I'm dumb.

I use one but only for abdominal exercises.

Abdominal exercises?

Just bought it. Did some searching, found that I could use the promotional code 'awful' for nearly a $10 discount.

Got the neon blue pro one, and including shipping all it cost me in the end was $43.34. The discount code paid for shipping and then some more. Awesome.

Can't wait to get this thing and try it out.

WTF is a powerball? No one answered that in this thread. Is it an exercise ball? Those inflatable ones that you can do different exercises on to work stabilizer muscles and so on? The way people talked it was something else and when I looked it up all I found was some kind of gyroscope timer thing or something.

Oh. Nope. I figured maybe that's what you were talking about, but I also thought maybe you were just dicking around. Haha.

I thought about getting one of those for use as a chair.

Anyway starbob, it's a gyroscopic ball. You start it spinning, then you continue to keep it spinning with the rotations and movements of your arm... building up the speed to incredible levels, and supposedly it gives your arm quite the workout. I mean, not the strength that serious weight training will provide you, but great stuff for your forearm, wrist and fingers. I want it for my wrist and fingers, to strengthen those up, as I mentioned earlier they are incredibly weak and pained due to the "popping" of my fingers.

my ball is better, you can whip it at someone's head and not feel bad about it.

Might as well just go to the gym... just gripping/moving weights will strengthen your forearms.

I have a set of weights at home that I use, but it hasn't been helping. It's just been helping the muscle groups I use them for, such as biceps, triceps, etc.

I mean, you don't do a whole lot of rotational movements of the wrist unless you want to injure yourself severely when dealing with normal weights.

I mean, it's not just shaking something in your hand, from the videos and testimonials I've seen(quite a large community around them), it's the inertial force that you have to fight against as you're doing it.

Also... gym memberships are expensive, and wouldn't effectively train what I want to train as this powerball and a good grip strength trainer would.

I can see how it would make your arms feel sore if you're constantly having to rotate the ball while it's increasing in speed. That's actually a pretty good idea if you want to strengthen your arms, but then there's always the alternative of lifting weights.

The 40 pounds of inertial force you have to combat as you're spinning it at the highest RPMs, and that's not counting the light metal one they have.

I'm going to be using this thing in combination with my weight training.

The videos of these guys doing it are fun to watch.

This guy is the world champion in dual, single and metal. Greek dude.

lol... that couldn't look more silly. I guess you shouldn't use these in public. I use a standard little grip enhancer that two of on sale for $5. http://www.amazon.com/Title-Boxing-EX3782YE-aka-EV3782YE/dp/B0013N4BVM

I didn't really need them but they were so cheap I figured there's no reason not to have them... plus I don't have to shake them around like an idiot... :p

But I guess I wouldn't make a youtube video of me using them either.

That's world championship powa right there! And yeah it does look ridiculous, which is why I said they're fun to watch. But I'm betting it'll kick my ass and do me some good.

But we'll see. I'll post what I think about it when I get it, sometime next week. Been suffering these hand problems for years now with regular weight training not helping me. I mean I own one of those crappy little department store grip strength trainers, the plastic ones... but that doesn't help either... not enough resistance.

So one of these days I'll probably get one of these heavy duty ones. 60 pounds of resistance onward to like, 400 pounds... which obviously not many people in the world can do. lol

There's plenty of workouts you can do with and without dumbbells. I wouldn't waste my money on something like a powerball unless it was a loto ticket ;).

Why is it a waste of money? It's a fun toy, first and foremost. Don't tell me you guys have never bought a cool little time wasting gadget.

Now, a powerball lottery ticket, that's a waste of money.

Good point, Ive spent thousands of dollars on video games.

A couple people where I used to work bought some, and they were pretty fun to use. I couldn't ever keep it going for more than like 30 seconds before messing it up though.

Just got my powerball.

God damn, this thing is cool. The amount of force it exerts while you're using it is great. It tires my fingers wrist and forearms out quickly. Hopefully it'll help me build up some of the lost strength and functionality in my hands.

You will have the most epic of masturbations.
