ok, heres the deal, at some point in the recent past, my computer could run Battlefield:Vietnam (the most graphicly advanced game i own) at a constant 60 FPS, down to 50 in heavy action.

Now then, when i came back from a vacation, my computer is having a problem even running Half-life well, i only get 30-40 FPS, and Vietnam dropped to less then 10 FPS

i dont know much about techie crap, so im posting here, if you need more info then what i put below, then tell me how to get it.

my specs: (as far as i know)
AMD Athlon XP 2800+
2.09 GhZ
1GB DDR Ram

that`s odd what about your video card, try re-install the drivers.

scan for spyware using spybot.

then defrag your HD.

Scan for viruses

Make sure there isnt many programs running in your system tray. If that doesnt work then i dont know.

video card: 256MB powercolor Radeon 9600 pro

ill do that other stuff now

On an odd chance: did the temperature in the room rise between you going and coming back?

:hmph: Exactly, the hot seaons are a bitch for computers. I live in So Cali so it gets HOT, in Winter my CPU Idles around 28 C and load at around 39 C. But not in the spring time my CPU idles at around 35 C and load at 50 C.

I own a 2.8C, yeah I also experience FPS drops on my 9800 Pro, about -5 FPS. I'm not going to turn on air conditioning just to cool things down a bit, even when I myself isn't even hot, so yeah :dozey: .

yeah mine normally idles at around 28-32, now its idling at 40 :(

:-p the rest of the computer died, so i did a complete reload, and i was having the same problem...

installing new catlyst drivers fixed the problem, you can close the topic now...
