Preloaders play first?

This topic may have been spoken of but i couldnt find it...
2 questions :

1) I preloaded hl2 after waiting for the 3rd preload. Does this mean that I have both the first and second preload files on my pc or is there some way to download the previous preloads?

2)Once the game goes gold will the preoladers be able to play immediately? I have reserved a copy in store and also have preloaded. I figure if the preloaders can play early then i would just stick with the preload.

Nope. Valve aren't allowed to release it on Steam before it's released in Stores.

1. You've already preloaded everything that's been available to preload (just check your steamapps directory there should be 3 files.

2. You can't play until it's released in retail stores.

Ridiculous, i know, but that's the terms of the contract.

1) when u preload half life 2 u will preload all 3 automatically. if it says u have finished preloading u will have all 3

Then actually will, because all that preloaders have to do is purchase it on steam and they don't even have to bother with installing it, so in a way yes.

Preloaders play it first anyways. If you aint got teleporter polarized with local store of course.

Of course assuming that we can get the game over Steam in the end
