Prepare to Launch and then nothing

hi!

my problem is I cant launch CS:S and some other HL? mods (like Minerva or Lethal Agents) it says "Prepare for Launching..." and then nothing no blackscreen or some like that.
HL? , HL? Lost Coast and mods like Ravenholm, Penetration, Coast to Atmosphere are working just fine!

the troubleshooting guide on the steam support forum doesnt help either
DirectX, graphics driver, windows installer, dotnet anything is ok and uptodate

i dont have any idea whats the problem

my system:
athlon 64 3000+ (2.2ghz)
K8V SE Deluxe
1.5gigs DDR RAM
GF6600GT (169.21 Detonators)

Windows XP Prof
Service Pack 3
DirectX 9 (distribution from Nov 2007)
.Net Framework 3.3
Kaspersky Antivir 6.0 (but disabled)

basically the system just a day old

Actually the hardware on that system is about 3-4 years out of date. Not exactly a day old.

hm maybe youre not quite understand what i meant ... the OPERATING system and its CONFIGURATION is just one day old


anyways i found out what the problem caused

people who have disabled the errormessage service dont get an error on this error

so heres the solution:

got to control panel -> systemconfiguration -> advanced -> and theres a button on the lower right corner ... saying errorreportservice or warning service (dont exactly know whats it called cuz iam german and have the germany version) but when theres a box coming saying something like -

turn off error report (x)
- but report on critical errors (x)

click both!

then launch your game again and there should be a errormessage ... for me the file that the error caused was shaderapidx9.dll

so have fun
