Preparing game??? wont load in steam

Ok here my problem, i just purchased the silver package from steam and everything finished downloading, my hl2 properties reads that it is 100% complete but once i click on it from the game list it pops up the " preparing half life 2 " but then it disappears and nothing happens from there..ive updated my graphic driver and my steam but still nothing?.. it does the same with cs source..someone please help me cause i am really upset with this :angry:

Have you got the latest directx drivers.

One thing i would try is deleting

C:\Program Files\Valve\Steam\SteamApps\accountname

Delete the half-life 2 folder and then try starting half life 2 through steam again.

ive updated the directx drivers, re downloaded hl2 data and still nothing? someone help
