present a back water city you happend to come across

Moosonee ON

I ended a canoeing trip up to James Bay there. Dirty, dusty, and desolate.

Also filled with a lot of ****ed up native people.

I give you.......Union, NE

I lived here, and decided to see how long it would take to count the entire city in the phone book. less than 5 minutes!

Not really a back water city, but when I was travelling through the north of Scotland I came across a small town/village. We stopped the car for some fresh air and maybe something to eat so we went to the nearest cafe, but to my suprise the sign on the cafe said "local italian ice-cream".

idk if Yellowknife counts as a backwater city.. I mean.. It's a capital city, and pretty known atleast in Canada.
