"This time, abandoned and framed for the disappearance of his family, Tommy escapes an Earth that no longer wants him for a future that cannot survive without him," reads the description.

I didn't realize the first made enough money to warrant a second.

Not that I'll play either, because they're both shite.

Perhaps they didn't but a certain game also featuring Portals did, and they want to jump on the bandwaggon they arguably knocked together in the first place.

It sounds like Tommy's bar didn't do so well. Do you think they'll use the same engine? I liked the first one, this seems like it won't disappoint (from the single picture of concept art).

Wait, I ****ing thought he crashed the alien ship into the sun.

"Portal" technology has been around since early UT gaming. If they even try to touch it like Portal did, it'll suck massively. Running around with a bow and arrow on a spaceship just doesn't seem to click very well in my mind, especially after playing the awful game that had just that.

I've never been so dispassionate about a game like I am about this.

The first game had potential but ****ed it all up. Not much caring about a sequel meself.

There is a valid argument that portal made that money because it was part of the OB. For those people who wanted to play TF2 and Ep2, or even the HL2 and Ep1, was Portal on everybodies mind. Can you honestly say that Portal made the OB what it is.

Would Portal of generated the same level of revenue if it was sold independently, with its own advertisement, and not part of the OB?

I agree. In some ways it pains me because it had generated so much potential for the time it was in development. There was a reason why 3DRealms abandoned the project all those years ago, I just don't know what it was.

The first should have been one of the best games I played, it seemed to have
all the ingredients, right down to the psychopathic blizzard like polish.
Yet it didn't, maybe it was the pacing or the way enemies reacted to shots,
I don't know, but I definitely want a sequel, in fact I wouldn't mind a
proper remake.

Whatever.

Remind me about this in 2012 when the first teaser emerges.

Wow, their game is shit even before they finished making it? Sucks to be them

It didn't take long for Prey to sell one million copies (combined) and that was the magic number they needed to start working on more Prey.

I got the original prey and liked it. It could have been better, but it was good enough for me to want more.

It is a shame the first one didnt' grab me liked I had hoped it would. Maybe this one will be more engaging.

I rather liked the first game ... I think a sequel with more of the cool little gimmicks the first game had like the portals and gravity micro planets would be pretty fun.

I'm curious to see if they can deliver on a lot of the potential from the first.

I didn't enjoy the first. I got it thinking it was going to be bad ass, but just couldn't enjoy it, for some reason. Meh.

Look like nobody here liked Prey.

I didn't like it too.

I played through it. It wasn't great or anything, but it was nifty with a few things.

I don't understand why some people here loathe it so much.

See: parallels with Doom 3; general hatred of Doom 3.

... Yes? The gaming press adore the damned thing, the internet latched onto its memes and it won higher accolades wherever it was separated from the other elements (Including the game developers choice awards).

Furthermore, I fail to see where being part of the Orange Box was ever that beneficial in 'advertisement terms'. OB Promotion was minimal to farcical, only the value for money element pushed sales through.

edit: And Scott Miller just basically said what I originally said.

I really loved the part of Prey when the alien shrunk inside the demo planet. its ****ing cool technology.

Looking forward....>>.....Prey2 :)

The first wasn't that bad. I mean i liked it. It tried or did more new then 90% of the shit out there. Ill probably be getting this.

On regards of their Portal comment. I don't think they stand a chance at beating Portal. Even if they think of this really cool game mechanic that's probably around the time Valve will release Portal 2 and pretty much shit on them.

From what I remember - and I didn't finish Prey - the portals weren't much more than glorified doors.
As I remember it, it was a thoroughly mediocre game with the occasional nice idea and some good visual moments (the aeroplane crashing inside the ship; the school bus etc.)

Perhaps not, but the fact of the matter is that it was an extraordinaryily good game, was received fantastically well (justifiably so) and the idea of MOAR GAMEZ WIV PORETALS PLZ is probably what the Prey devs have got in mind.

Hopefully this sequel will take even longer to develop than the original.
And then I will laugh.

They've left it too long to make a sequel, I'm over Prey.

Prey was a fun romp, it was way too over-hyped though.

They did some interested things with the CUBED room and the wall walking tho.

I never finished Prey, but I will comment on what I did see.

There were some incredibly awesome things about it, but basically, the enemies, the story, the weapons were so mediocre.

I think they are some ace programmers who did the game but I wish they would let go of Tommy all together and create a completely new story. The whole Indian thing was wack.

The entire concept is aliens invading Earth, so that means they could create a story and set of characters based on anything.

It's ridiculous to be on a space ship with a magical bow and arrow with the whole strong Indian thing. They'd be better off with a mexican gangbanger. "Oh, ****ing shit, don't you know I'm loco?"

I thought the first game was quite passable. A bit short, but passable.

Didn't like the first game at all. You see this old man, who's supposed to be your grandfather, rambling to you how you're a cherokee and shouldn't leave. Two minutes later he dies, and you're supposed to have some kind of bond with him?
