Primal Carnage (doesn't have anything to do with Primal Rage)

Apparently there's a new dinosaur FPS in development called Primal Carnage. It's a team based multiplayer game (humans vs dinosaurs), which also supports bots. From what I've heard it's coming to all platforms.

I read the title and thought this was a sequel to that shitty fighting game, Primal Rage.
 
I saw the thread title and thought perhaps this could be the long-awaited sequel to Primal Rage. Anyone who did not also immediately think the same is now thinking of a glorious new Primal Rage that will never come.

If I must suffer with these thoughts you'll all suffer with me.

For once I completely agree with Darkside.

Primal Rage was ****ing awesome.



Also at first glance I didn't even notice that floating raptor.
 
Concept was cool, game sucked. ADMIT IT, YOU'RE CLINGING TO FALSE NOSTALGIA!
 
Game was no masterpiece by any means, but it was fun. It definitely was not "shit."
 
I guess Multiplayer is cool but **** that I want a singleplayer game.

I want to be a palaeontologists studying dinosaurs in STALKER Shadow of the Dinosaurs.
I want to go in old overgrown dino-testing labs to find clues about dinoland and get ambushed by velociraptors.

i want my character model to be jeff goldblum
 
This will be the best game ever created.
 
This game has such a lameass name.

It's as if we're back to the oldies, where the supposingly badass sounding names are actually cliche as heck. I would've settled with "Jurassic Park but not really", but nooooo, they have to call it "Primal Carnage".

That being said, the teaser sure shows a good amount of graphical advances (though the screenshot looks ugly as hell). I want to see actual animation of human faces before judging this game (if there are other humans in the game)

That's what you sound like.

Obviously that's what matters in a game where you ****ing kill dinosaurs. Also yes there are other humans. Team based multiplayer, humans vs dinosaurs.
 
I came into this thread HOPING for a Primal Rage successor, you hatin' dirtboogers. I'd seen some cool uningine tech demos a while back, cool that it's getting an application.

That's because the graphics will probably be the saving grace for this game, just like Crysis. Even a horrible game like Crysis with ridiculously bad A.I and storyline managed to net terrific scores across reviews.

I kill dinosaurs, hooray. As if there isn't enough dinosaur killing games already. The only real thing that interests me is the graphics, and maybe the idea of playing as a dinosaur. Though if I want to be some beast who rapes humans Alien vs Predator seems like a good choice.

I'm going to admit I'm being very shallow here, but honestly no real aspect (besides the graphics) of this game is all that "wow", at least not for me.
 
Regarding the OP, I could definitely stand to see more. Dinosaurs are ****ing awesome. I do agree that a singleplayer game has more potential though.

No there aren't as a mater of fact. I can count one one had the number of FPS games in the last decade that have had dinosaurs in them...
For me it's the FPS+dinosaurs combo that is the selling point for me, not the graphics. Although it helps that the environments look nice.
 
I've been waiting for a Dinosaur fps game for aaages!
 
i would love a game where i play a t-rex in times square, or some other hilariously equivalent setting. or picture playing as a velociraptor in the middle of a crowded mall...

The Turok series are all first person shooters with Dinosaurs in them, and there are about 5-6 games in that series (including the one that came out in 2008).

There are also Jurassic Park games, as well as "Jurassic: The Hunted". In fact, there have been quite a number of FPS games out there with dinosaurs as the main enemies. The problem is they are not receiving much publicity due to their suckage (the newest Turok probably had the most coverage of them all, yet I bet many of you have never heard of it).

The FPS+Dinosaur combo is not all that innovative, it has been done countless times before. I can assure you this game would probably go down in that list of unnoticed FPS Dinosaur games if it weren't for the graphics, and we all know how much impact good graphics have on reviews, publicity and hype. Thus, the reason I'm calling the graphics the saving grace for this game.

Well the previous Turok games are all for the Nintendo 64, except for the most recent two. There are over 5 Turok games in the series, but only 2 have been non-Nintendo 64. I've played the Nintendo 64 ones, and the most recent one. They aren't good games, but they aren't horrible either (at least not for me).

I'll admit I have a soft spot for the new Turok and its upcoming sequel though.
 
Turok was great until I came across the lizard men :(

You missed where he added "in the last decade" to make his statement true.

And Darkside is right. The supposed other games shall be expunged from history.
 
Mehh, all that work could be put towards an amazing single player survival game. I like the visuals, dinosaurs seem pretty cool, but from reading about it and seeing that video, it most certainly seems like it will fall flat amongst a bazillion other MP games.
 
That looks... really meh.

But, it's only pre-alpha right now so I'll keep my hopes up.

Also, LOL at blatantly copying the t-rex roar from Jurrassic Park.

And I agree with all the people in the comments suggesting destructible buildings. That would be awesome!
 
I dunno. While I'm sure there was a degree of strategy that we didn't see and those were probably some of the more simplistic level designs, it sort of just looked like "Running Backwards while Shooting T-Rex the Game".
