"OGLE: The OpenGLExtractor is a tool that lets you grab 3d data out of an OpenGL application and output it as models again.

What does that mean?

* It means that someone with a 3d printer can get 3d statuettes of their Second Life character. They can send it off to be manufactured, if they like.
* It means that you can snag any 3d model you like out of someone else’s game data, and insert it into your own 3d scene."

Holy ****ing crap I'd love a Nanosword :O

Or a LAM ;)

Is it only on OpenGL appilcations, and not DirectX ones?

Say HL2?

I'm not sure what BF2 runs on though...it's Nvidia..so I assume OGL?

I thought it would be one of them build-up layer-by-layer things. That's pretty cool.

This would be amazing for things like Deus Ex 1 update projects. Export all the low-poly models then upgrade them all or something.

That is no where near as cool as laser etching prototyping ive seen at jaguar. The laser scans through a special plastic liquid building the model layers, when the model is finished the rest of the liquid is poured away to be used again.

A few quick scans and you could have a perfectly smooth 3D replica of the Gman or something.

Yeah, that's what I meant.
