printer install problems? help please

Well I needed to reinstall my printer copier/scanner, now i completley removed all of the hardware and software that came with it, now when I try to reinstall it with the software that came with it gives this message that says "You dont currently have the spooler on. In order to continue the installion you must have the spooler on. And then it says to click yes if i want the spooler on no if I want the spooler off and to exit the setup. But when i Click yes the program shuts down and acts like its going to do something but it never does, I have tried reinstall the software numerous times. My printer/copier/ scanner is a Lexmark X1150 and Im using windows xp and advice would be helpful.

Click on Start, Run, and type in services.msc

Scroll down Print Spooler, is the service running?

Lexmark... I'm very sorry. THis company has a decade-long history of producing software and installs that don't work and are incompatible with everything.

Before wasting your time, visit the Lexmark site. Download the latest drivers, software installs. Visit the troubleshooitng forums and find all the people who had the same problems and errors. I've had to visit lexmark regularly when people ask for my help installing those horrible little machines.

There is a reason they go on deep sales discounts.

now i get an error when i try to start print spooler, it says could not start print services on local computer, Error: 1068 The dependency service or group failed to start.

Try logging onto the administrator account and do it (unless you're already on it)

That sounds pretty odd.. is Printer Spooler checked to on under Services in msconfig?
