Is there anyway to put an administrative lock on a printer so that people cannot print anything without putting in a password, my annoying sister thinks its cool to print out 8 pages of worthless shit then expect me to dishout 50 dollars for ink.

Don't put a physical lock on it.. you'll break the head or burn out the motor.

Just unplug it.

No
printer lock is an option in the control panel where the administrator can set specific time when the printer can function, the jobs wont print instead they are sent to the spooling process.

All that means is that when that time comes, 60 pages of worthless crap she prints out will come out...

How about hiding the printer from the network?

i thought there was a physical lock well at least on some printers like my lexmark x83 i use to have had one, but your best of just unplugging it from the computer/outlet.

edit: lol or better yet just take alllll the paper and hide it then put it in there when its needed.

no i always get home in time so ill be able to see the spooled processes and shell probably giveup trying to print it once she learns that i've curtailed her and i have an hp no lock that i know of

and i dont really want to unplug it because its such a pain and shed probably just miraculously plug it back up.

yea but why dont you just put a password on it if its your computer???

i dont know how honestly lol
i reformated and the password i had went bye bye

what?? that didnt make anysense, nor answered the question

Sorry I do not know how to password my computer, so that when it comes on you have to enter the password to gain rights to use. My computer used to have the sign in with password but after I reformated it stopped doing that, now antyone can pretty much breeze in.

Nvm I just went to control panel > user accounts, to setup a secure user thanks all.
