'On the contrary, PES2008 on Wii looks every bit as realistic as its hi-def cousins and, if initial thoughts prove right, it could well offer a greater level of control and freedom in terms of gameplay.

The reason for this is that Konami has cleverly used the Nunchuk and Wiimote to enhanced the gameplay experience rather than bolt on some motion-sensing gimmick. Here, the Nunchuk stick is used to move the player around screen and the B button is used to pass. No big deal you may think, but what's interesting is that the Wiimote appears as a point on the screen, affecting the gameplay in a couple of ways. Firstly, it's an alternative way of moving your player around the screen - drag the cursor around while holding A and your player will follow the on-screen target. Secondly, the cursor is used to accurately pass the ball, so if you want to thread a looping through ball to a winger (rather than the obvious guy standing nearby) simply move the target over the runner's head and press pass.'

I'm a huge Pro Evolution fan and can't wait to see how this plays.

Wow...I'm a huge PES fan too, I had no idea about this. I'm not sure they can prise me away from my controller.

It'll certainly be weird. Being able to pass to exactly who you want, or even to position through balls with greater precision, could be awesome.

probably looks as good as the next gen versions look crap anyway. Konami seemed to have dropped the ball this year(last few years some would say), i was a die hard pes fan but they series hasn't 'evolved' enough at all. I bought Fifa 2008 this year on 360 but am waiting for reviews on pes2008 for 360.

i don't have a wii.

While I don't want this to degenerate into a FIFA vs PES thread, I have to agree with Jimbo.

PES demo sucked badly, and FIFA 08 is an awesome game.

the wii idea sounds neet if they can pull it off however I still expect all the old pes bugs and shoddy AI + balancing to be still in place making for one frustrating game.

If they pull this off just right, it will be the best sports game ever made.

I bought the game today, it's brilliant. Really enjoying it. Having a few teething problems with the wide-screen capabilities though as Konami seems to have buggered up the support for it on PC. Nice little extra features though, should be a worthy sequel.

i was wondering if you had got it :) so you got it for PC? i see spurs are licensed so good for you :P

whats it like on PC? whats your specs? i d/loaded the demo but it just goes to a black screen when i try to run it. i brought back fifa 2008 but when i was in Gamestop they had a demo video running in the background of the ps2 version of pes08, it was so fast, like pinball football, response times were insane, looked very unrealistic tbh, one thing Fifa did right this year was nail the pace and flow of a match.

So far the feedback has been pretty bad in general for pes2008 on the forums, particularly the ps3 version which is apparently crippled by slowdown.

Hehe I'm very happy with Spurs and the proper kits/sponsors etc. But I'd prefer an all round fix. Kitserver looks to have already been converted by Robbie and Juce so I'm sure things will be upgraded soon enough.

The game has fantastic dribbling and is even more fluid than before. The keepers are a little clumsy. You can dive now too which is funny, but very difficult too. The wide-screen problem combined with the slowdowns are shockingly bad, Konami are working on a patch though.

I'm playing it through my laptop still right now, because I'm still building my new computer. It's specs are Core 2 Duo 2.0Ghz, 2gb DDR2 RAM, GeForce 7400 GO. So should run things fine...but it's shockingly optimised for PC as usual. You need to buy it in all honesty. Things look very pretty.

so it runs good for you or not? btw man, you should check out the evo web forums, the pc pes section, they have fixes for the widesreen bugs i believe.

i heard dribbling is way too easy btw, i'm torn between getting it for 360 or getting it for pc where it might run crap but the editing scene on PC is amazing.

oh yeah what controller you using to play?

Using my PS2 / USB adapter so I can use the PS2 controller, but the PC version is all about the 360 controller, so I might buy one for the PC to make it more happy.

My game is running ok now, but it's no where near how good it should be. I'm not happy with it really. I'd never come away from PC now because of how good the editing scene is but at the moment it's a shit moment to be part of it till the official patch comes out. I am a member over at evo web btw, and I've posted my problem. I'm using a widescreen fix currently, but still the slow downs and other problems are still happening (and those seem to be pretty serious).

that sucks about perfomance, i would have to play on medium as i dont have a SM3.0 card.

my rig is x800xt, gig ddr2 ram and 3.2ghz p4, not the best anymore :|

but still the slow downs and other problems are still happening (and those seem to be pretty serious).

what problems are you having other than the slowdowns and widescreen issue?
