I have it, Digi has it, Glenn is getting it. Who else is getting or has Pro Evo 09 and what do you think of it?

Personally I love it, Become a Legend is great Also this is quite humerous

I just got the email it's dispatched (forgot to preorder ;(), but been playing the demo religiously. I'm so envious I haven't got "Become a Legend" mode!

I think the balance is tremendous compared to to PES2k8 which was possibly the lowest point in the series. The passing / speed / tackling seems so much better balanced. Long range shooting is really tricky now, but set-plays have been radically overhauled Graphics haven't improved much, but at least Konami have pulled their thumb out for once and added widescreen support this time...big ask or what!?


Lmao at Porn Darry. You had a chance to play online yet Chris? I hear 2 v 2 is back, so we need to get together at some point. Also patches: E.V.O.L.U.T.I.O.N team are close to releasing something, and kitserver 8.0 is out already. Glad you and Digi are on the PC version now

Really enjoying the gameplay now I am getting (somewhat) decent at it! Still not too good at Regular difficulty though =[

Can't wait for some patches to bring it all up to date and with proper kits

I'll try keep you up to date with patches, the EVO patch will give all the proper team names / badges/ emblems / player names / stadium names etc. It's seriously so much better on on PC with the mod support. Do you play with a controller? I use a wireless 360 controller with a wireless Vista adapter personally.

Also, how are you mod skills. I've started face making, hoping to do some more for PES2k9

Not much better than 2008 so I haven't bought it. I ploughed 300+ hours into 2008 and I don't think 2009 is enough of a step forward. 2009's gameplay changes could've been patched, so if they think I'm paying for a whole new game they must be joking.

I have FIFA 09 for the 360 which is much better.

It's weird, you can hold right trigger down and move the analogue stick in circles to do the marseille turn, Tevez does a special variation of it. LB and R2 tapped does step overs, pressing up and down quickly does things like the matthews trick and the flip flap. Can't do the drag back yet though, haven't worked it out D:

I assume your on PS3, is it the same for 360 though? Coz I press the right trigger and the players walk with the ball like they controlling it more

I'm playing on PC, but use a 360 controller. I'll say it in 360 terms. You press the Right Trigger button, then use your movement analogue stick (left one) and spin it around and move it up and down while pressing RT to do most tricks. Tap LB to do stepovers.

Anyway you can change the controls back to PES08? BTW go to http://www.pesgaming.com/forumdisplay.php?f=276 and get option files with all the kits and what not. The 360 one hasnt got Prem League kits yet but soomeone is working on it

I already have Fifa 09 but might give it a rent. Still looks like there are few improvements so meh to it, maybe 2010 will be better.

only soccer thread around here...i know this is about the other game, but for anyone interested, theres an xbox live only tournament going on for some of the ea sports games, including fifa 09...pretty cool tournament...allows you to start over every week essentially...continuous chance to win..

Pfft.

Photos of player faces pasted onto a basic model are always going to look better in that situation. Load up an actual game of FIFA and the majority of the faces look fantastic on the pitch. PES 2009 still looks like a PS2 game most of the time.

Seriously though, if you're after a decent representation of football - you'd have to be mad to still favour PES these days. And this is coming from someone who bought basically all the Pro Evo games up until 2008. Fair enough if you prefer the way it plays, but it's definitely not even close to FIFA 09 in terms of realism anymore. I think Konami have really dropped the ball since switching to next-gen, the newer games aren't a patch on the old PS2/PC games. Keep in mind I'm on about the 360/PS3 version of FIFA, I'm sure the PC version is terrible as always.

Ironically you've just proven why FIFA is better. The PES crowd used to not care about graphics and care about gameplay instead, but now it's the other way around. Kinda funny.

The PC version of FIFA 09 is the worst footy game Ive ever played. However the 360 version is brilliant. Ive always liked PES but the latest PES has let me down. And to punish Konami I got FIFA 09 even though I like the PES09 gameplay. But after weeks of playing FIFA, I prefer it over PES.

FIFA oozes quality and the days of 10 - 3 games are gone. Its very realsitc and play differnet to PES but you still get the feeling your playing a footy game. Ive just got into the Be A Pro mode and lovin it.

Konami better make the next PES alot better than PES09 otherwise Im gonna become a FIFA boy.... cant believe I just said that

yeah ive always thought fifa won out over PES, PES is not bad on the 360, but fifa gameplay seems to be much tighter...plus fifa is in the online tournament i mentioned, PES sadly is not...i dont think ive ever played a PES game online matter of fact...

PES was a massive disappointment this and last year tbh, FIFA absolutely battered Pro Evo this year, Fifa 09 is as close to real the game as I have ever played, never thought I would say that about a Fifa game.
