Pro Evolution Soccer 6

yep, got mine thursday but only really played today, so far i'm having alot of fun with it, theres a bit of a bug atm alot of players our having, the game stutters a bit at the start of play, 1600x1200 is now supported which is awesome, the pace of the game is really nice too, great new animations, passing is better i find and theres a greater build up of play, the sidestep feature of pes5 seems to be gone and there is a new R2 dribble which slows the game down....shooting from acute angles is more feasible now too...players like Ronaldinho really are masters in possesion.

cant wait for the community patches...

How do you sidestep now, Jimob? Like in the previous games?

Still waiting for my copy to arrive.

I've only played about 30 minutes worth on my mates 360, but as far as gameplay goes I loved it. Seems slightly faster than PES5, passing and movement is much better, and generally everything feels natural and flows a lot more. Especially now the ref isn't blowing his whistle every 4 seconds.

I'm gonna be getting the PC version though (don't have a 360) - a bit disappointed that we're left with the same old graphics, but at least there's an edit mode. ;)

Bah, I bought mine for the 360 yesterday and it's still sitting on the table in the plastic wrapping. Not had a chance to get cracked into it yet.

both my housemates think its rubbish compared to the new FIFA,

FIFA has come on a long way since it was total rubbish tbh.

But I haven't played enough of either to make up my mind yet.

I've played the new Fifa and it is pretty good, much better than previous in the series. It isn't as good as PES5 by a long shot, though, so unless PES6 is worse than that I very much doubt Fifa can compete.

Stick to Fifa for a mindless kick around and plenty of easy goals - stick to PES is you want to play the closest thing to real football other than going to a park and kicking one around :)

I played the demo and it's nowhere near PES3, nevermind 5/6.

People say the presentation is better, but I much prefer PES5's menus since they're so easy to navigate.

Someone post some cool screenies of PES6!

Glad someone said it. I downloaded the 360 Fifa 07 demo and deleted it after half a play... thought it was ****ing terrible!

Can't wait to get PES6 :) Winning Eleven 10 was great, hope it's not too different.

I prefer Pro Evo I still can't believe people buy it every bloody year.

afaik from my brief playtime with it you press R2 to sidestep like the default sidesteping using the d-pad/analogue stick ala pes5

example you are moving left to right, you press R2 and move up or down, the player will sidestep in that direction.

it works alot better like this, the gameplay will take a bit to get used to even for vets but i think its the best gameplay wise yet...theres a couple of new moves and feints and dribbling has improved too. messi for example is very good but you never feel like you are in total control of possesion if you get me, its not like 'oh give it to messi or ronaldinho and dribble the whole pitch without having to worry about the opposition's defence', you really have to concentrate when dribbling...

the german league is no longer there btw, this is to do with the german fa i think or fifa, not even a fake german league is there, there is an 'other leagues C' section which basically is there for people to edit to create the bundesliga or any league they want i guess.theres about 20+ teams in there

the french ligue 1 is licensed btw now which is nice...

What is going on, mine hasn't arrived yet I've been waiting for ages D: I'm still playing Superpatch 4.0 on Pro Evo 5 :( I hope they get a SP done fast for PES6 because it enhances the experience so much. Fifa fans make me laugh "I've played it 5 minutes with a biased opinion and I think it's shit" Let listen to this guy!

From what you guys have played, is the refereeing decisions better, or am I still going to concede free kicks when the player BEHIND me falls over because he can't run fast enough. Growl.

LATE EDIT! It's here, came this morning, installing now, looking good.

Fifa fans make me laugh "I've played it 5 minutes with a biased opinion and I think it's shit" Let listen to this guy!

I'm sorry, was that aimed at me? Did you spend the 10 seconds required to read my post or were the words too long and complicated for you?

PES fans are funny, just cause PE2 was much better than Fifa 2002 they think that it holds true for all following games.

Just for the record, I've played FIFA 96, 97 which were rubbish, 2003 which was so so, and a small amount of 07 which tbh has impressed. ISS 98, ISS PES, PES2, PES 3, PES 4, PES 5. and Winning Eleven 6 Final evolution, GC version, which is the best.

Funny thing is PES's name is a joke, its not evolving, not compared to FIFA anyway.

PES has been going downhill for a long time, PES 2 and W11FE GC are about as good as it gets, PES 3 is a horrible mess, PES 4 was more like PES 2 .PES 5 has got the most stupid Ref system ever, Fouled, ball through on goal... oh wait, bring it back.

What's up with walls from the halfway line? What's up with not allowed to be within 15 yards from an oppositions throw? What's up with stupid formations winning matches? 4-2-4 beats the computer 6/7 - 0 on the hardest diff most games.

Thing is, all these bugs have been present since PES 2, and yet haven't been addressed

What's really sad is the arguments PES fanboys use. "LOL FIFA fanboy played PES for 4 seconds and said it was crap LOL" yet they base their knowledge of FIFA on 97.

Hell I said I hadn't even made my mind up.

It does suprise me to hear someone who's layed both games recently still lean towards Fifa. Bar the gameplay, which I really do think isn't a patch on PES, I find Fifa has a weird 'floaty' feel to it. The animations are too long, the ball floats around, and players seem to glide. It doesn't look or play as much like a real game of footy - it's also, imo, not neary as fun.

Funny, we just had a PES 6 game during half time and we all though PES 6 was exactly as you described FIFA.

BTW have you tried Winning Eleven 6 Final Evo for the Gamecube? I was between PES 2 and PES 3, but never released in the UK so its import only.

I've played quite a bit of FIFA 07, easily the best one yet - but it's still really iffy in places. The only part I thought felt solid was short passing. Animations when it come to long balls and shooting are still so weird, almost everytime a player will be running along, and suddenly his standing foot will move in an instant to a different position before he hits it. That happens pretty much everytime you shoot, the animations really don't flow from one to another. Then you've got the ball flying off players feet like absolute lightning during every shot or long ball, your player can be chasing a ball being closed down by two players, and on his first touch pull off the most amazing long pass which flies like a bullet over 40 yards to his teamates feet. Generally I think the pace of the game needs to be slowed down in places, animations still need work - but the graphics and licensing are still miles ahead of PES.

Yeh - imported it as early as possible. It reminded me quite a bit of ISS98, which was great.

I think PES4, then 5, bettered it, though.

I liked the way tackling was changed for PES 5 infact. Many seem to hate it - it's just more involved and needs better timing. Once you're used the change you can nudge people off the ball, trip them to interrupt their stride, without causing a foul. Too many people gave up after a few hours complainng of a strict ref and fouls every minute. If they'd put the time in they'd have found a more tactical and better realised tackle system, and all the extra depth of gameplay that goes with it.

What kind of setup do you have and how well does it run? Also, are you playing with a gamepad and if so, which one? I've got the USB modded Controller S, but the lack of shoulder buttons sort of ruins it.

ive had all the iss/pes gamesw back to ps1 times. ive gota say that im not really enjoying pes6. i just cant see myself eventually liking it like i have done with all the pes games in the past, its just a chore.

what really is irritating me though is that theyve changed the R2 button from a medium dribble speed to some snail pace dribble with the added tedium of making the sidestep feature that was mapped to the same button now incredibly unresponsive. that R2 dribble feature on pes 5 was absolutely perfect to take the ball a little bit furher on in the box with the little bit of control you needed to make space and shoot for goal, in pes6 you have to move at regular speed(and get tackled/shoot into defenders legs) or use R1 which tightens the angle so much that the ball will baloon over the bar more than it should.

and i feel more than evr that this version is cheating in terms of balls falling to opposition players, CPU players covering huge distances to get back and your own players takig forever to catch up - its so rare you can actually break on a team. most of the time you end up slowly turning a player and then sprinting past him like in fifas of old the whole length of the pitch as noone will get anywhere near you to support and any cut-backs justget intercepted

im just so depressed with this version, i wanted to buy it on xbox360 as well but i couldnt stand paying all that money for lazy port so i have to make do the grainiest graphics ive seen since prince of persia 1 on amiga. the only positive of buying the game is that ive the pesfan option file and someones been nice enough to do the premiership teams as well.

i love pes so much but this version is breaking my heart lol

I've been playing PES6 for most of today.

I like how the sidestep has been removed even though I used it all the time in PES5, since it was pretty unrealistic. You never see people running about like that in real life.

The shooting seems harder with a lot of shots going over the bar. But people complain about the shooting every single year, so I'm sure we'll all get used to it. Chipped shots are back to how they were in PES4, which is good, since they were way too weak in PES5.

Long balls are a lot better (O button). You don't have to wait for an animation to finish before the power bar starts to rise now. High through balls also seem a lot more accurate/weighted when using someone that can actually kick them properly.

The AI's defending seems better with them actually covering your wingers runs a lot more, so you can't just through-ball it to your wingers now. The goalkeepers are still crap at getting back after you've rushed them out though.

The passing's a bit more accurate/smooth unlike in PES5 when they couldn't seem to do basic passes sometimes. Although passing back to the keeper seems harder than in PES5 and sometimes your defender will just pass it 10ft infront of himself instead of to the keeper, especially when you're out wide.

I think they've got the free-kicks almost spot-on now. You can usually tell when play will be called back from how bad the animation looked, which can be funny with the new animations of players going flying when you miss the ball.

I like the new International Challenge option. I've called Davids and Seedorf back up to the Holland squad :)

most of the time you end up slowly turning a player and then sprinting past him like in fifas of old the whole length of the pitch as noone will get anywhere near you to support and any cut-backs justget intercepted
Maybe try a new formation. And edit the runs they make by going to Formation > Individual > Attack > then change the arrows.

3ghz, 1gb ram, x800. I always play on 1024x768 windowed and on High. I have a Saitek P2500, qhich doesn't have R2/L2, but it six buttons instead of 4, so I use 2 of those for R2/L2.

Do you all use the d-pad, or are you all noobcakes that use the analog?

you're just bad at the game

Do you all use the d-pad, or are you all noobcakes that use the analog?

You are MEANT to use the analog, using the d-pad just means you can run in 90 or 45 degree angles only, if you have been playing with the d-pad then you haven't been playing it correctly because everyone uses the analog.

I use the ps2 usb controller adapter with my old ps2 controller to play it along with gta: san andreas.

Actually, it's the other way around. The game only supports the 8 turning directions of the d-pad, which is why you're supposed to use it.

"Fans of PES on both PS2 and Xbox know that the best pad to play the game on is the Sony Dual Shock pad, and this is due to the Sony controller having a far superior D-Pad; even Seabass himself recommends players use the D-Pad."

Seabass is the guy that makes PES. :farmer:

I know who seabass is ;) , i dont know, i think using the analog is much better

you're just bad at the game

obviously your just bad at the game seeing as youve yet to notice the gmae only registers 8 points of direction. and besides i didnt say i wasnt scoring or winning (thus making me bad at the game...) i said i wasnt enjoying it.

you asshat

edit: im not joking. you are an asshat

It's better using the analogue pad on the 360 as the d-pad is so dire.

I've been playing quite a bit, and it feels like pro evo 5 just tweaked alot. The graphics aren't enhanced in any way really, and without the superpatch I find it highly depressing without the realism of the faces, sponsors, proper kits, proper stadiums etc, I'm eagerly anticipating the release of another Superpatch from the PES community for pro evo 6. The refereeing decisions are fantastic now though :D and the dribbling is much more fun, as is the shooting (feels more accurate from range for me now). I'm very happy with the changes - just not the way it looks.

Raxxman - the fifa player comment wasn't directed at you, I'm a member on a football game forum elsewhere and you get the CONSTANT PES > FIFA, FIFA > PES arguments, and I was addressing them. I was a FIFA fan for years, until I found salvation in PES, it's damn good fun.

im still not 100% about this game but im settling into it now. its half time man utd (me)v liverpool and im 3-0 up on a 10min game on top player difficulty.

56% possession, 8shots(6 on target) at half time

edit: full time was 5-0 to me, i had 53% possession and 13shots(11 on target).

job done

I'm finding it more difficult to adjust to PES6 than previous iterations in the series. It's pretty slow, and I prefered the tackling in no.5 (it's back to the no brainer just hold the pressure button down). The pace does look like it may allow some more tactical build up and i'm liking the changes to some of the passing/long balls.

The real test will be when the guys come round for some 2 v 2. I'm under the impression it'll shine more in multiplayer - being less open some of the cheaper goals in PES5 - but a bit of a drag in single player.

I found a fun variation to play. Put your cursor on semi-fix (means it only changes when you press it), and put a CPU on your side, and turn on player-cam, and you can play with that player like a 3rd person football game, it's great to see the shots and things from ground level. I'm really liking the game, but I'm scoring from outside the box too easily. Konami want to get their act together and fix the online mode.

The question is - does PES5 > PES6?

//edit

went off on one :)

Hehe that exactly what I went for, the cinematic/energy/inspiring kind of video, with a bit of everything. Thanks for the feedback buddyroo!

nice vid.

I've not had chance to play anymore PES6 and my housemate took it back cause he was annoyed they hadn't fixed any of the bugs from PES5 that pissed him off.

They're still playing lots of FIFA 07 (ie everytime I come home from work at least one of them is playing it). Must point out that this is the Xbox version, which is totally different to the 360 which we had the demo from, that was tripe.

What is going on, mine hasn't arrived yet I've been waiting for ages D: I'm still playing Superpatch 4.0 on Pro Evo 5 :( I hope they get a SP done fast for PES6 because it enhances the experience so much.
There is a patch here, which is supposed to update all the player/stadium names etc - although I haven't figured out how to download it, as it is in a different language (and I'm not that bothered tbh) :)

Yeah I already have that installed, I actually posted it at the bottom of page 2, the english version though. That is just an option file though, I meant the superpatch, which replaces all your games files (0_Sound, E_Sound, E_Text and 0_Text) and are about 1 and a half gigs collectively. Oh and a new kitserver to be released.

The new kitservers out. I'm not too great with adding new kits and whatnot so I'm waiting on the new superpatch to sort out the kits. At least the LODmixer that comes with it is useful. I've actually been playing a bit of Superpatch 4.0 instead recently, mainly because some areas of PES6 graphics-wise are doing my head in. Mostly the pitches.

Kitserver 6 - http://www.soccergaming.tv/showthread.php?t=138574

Oh, and did you ever figure out how to install the stadiumpack for SP4? I downloaded it but the readme just confused the hell out of me. :D
