Probably a stupid question

Well, this computer I am on only has 3 USB ports, and they are all occupied. One for my headset, one for my keyboard, and one for my mouse. I have been looking to get a joystick for BF2 but I have no available USB ports. It is also a pain if I need to put in a flash drive or a printer. Now, I have a USB hub that I found lying around my house (D-Link DSB-H4) which can take some stuff but often times the computer tells me the device will need more power. So here is my question: Is there a USB hub out there that could take say, a mouse and a joystick at the same time (in other words "high performance" so to say)? I tried once with my keyboard and mouse but all they both did was shut on and off. Basically, since I would need to take one of the three USB devices I already have out, put the hub in, then plug a joystick and something else in it would a usb hub be able to keep up without hindering performance?

Again, sorry if it sounds like a silly question but I honestly have no clue.

Thanks,
Escape.

P.S. If of any use this is what I have:

Creative Fatal1ty Headset
Razer Lycosa
Razer Deathadder

It's always best to get a USB hub that is self powered and not powered from the main computers USB hub. Plug two devices in that need a fair bit of juice (iPod, Scanner) and it'll eventfully damage the USB hub on the computer, especially if it's a cheap chipset, and render it useless.

Also, are you using a Laptop or Desktop? If it's a desktop then get a PCI USB 2.0 card.

Well, it is a 24" iMac so you really can't add anything to it. Can you recommend a self powered USB hub that is less than about $30?
