Probem With Playing

Ok I have a problem trying to play HL2 or HL2 Deathatch.

It installed fine and verything I just cat play it.
When I try to load it, it comes up with this error.



Then when I click ok the game restarts and then comes up with the same error.
After I click ok again it restarts once more and then I get this error.



Can anyone help me.
I have a nvidia 5800 and with the latest DX installed.

I have a Gforce card too and just installed the latest graphics driver update which seems to have screwed the bloody thing up!!!:x I am now getting the same error and i have had no luck in sorting it out... so i will be looking closely at this thread....

Ya thats when it seems to have screwed up with mine as well. When I instlled the latest driver. :S

"you have to go to the play games menu in steam, right click on hl2dm, click the Launch Options button, then type -width 640 -height 480" - maybe this will help.

Nope that didnt work.
What happens is after the secind time i get the warning it goes to that size of a screen then I get the final warning and then just shuts off the game.

Sorry for the double post but it seems like I cant edit my post from above.

I have found out the problem. It is with the newest update of the nvidia drivers. Try to find an older version and it should work.
