Shame they were lower quality than the ones they released before.

yeah :'( i wonder why they did that o_O

Because they had to fit on the CD with Condition Zero. So they had to reduce the resolution on each video.

If you bought Condition Zero, you'll have had all of them in the same resolution.

There very dissapointing and thats not just because there low quality, hopefully all this new tech that has apparantly been programmed into the source engine but never demonstrated actually exists.

Well, we have that video of the DirectX 9 effects in Source. Which definately weren't in the E3 videos.

I think they were over the top though, they were extra shiny to show off the pixel and vertex shaders. I think the source engine should look alot better by now, in the time between that videos release and now the programmers could have done alot... I mean I'v written two games since then and I'm lazy uninspired git(plus I don't work full time).

Instead of releaseing old crap they should throw us something new or nothing atall.

yeah the lower resolution videos are pretty bad. they aren't much better than the GS spycam video at e3. I dont know why they didnt release the full-resolution videos to the interenet seeing as you dont have the issue of size and fitting the files on any medium format

I think the shaky cam footage was better, for a start you had all the people in the background going "ooooooo" "awwwwwwww", it wasn't a year out of date and most importantly there was less artifacting.

Because it wasn't Valve who released them, it was the download sites who ripped the movies of the CZ cd. I don't think Valve would bother to release their old vids a year after their release and when there's new stuff coming up late this month.

New stuff is coming soon....

aha, that's why :D makes sence now :]

I was wondering why I Gordon seemed to be wearing Ned Kelly's helmet in the coastline vid...

Now I know. Lower resolution...

i think i remember someone (mod) saying that there was new info that they're not allowed to release until a certain date...

...don't take my words as gospel, it may have been a game site like IGN or something, OR i may just be hallucinating this.

Apparently, someone at Valve said that they'd release the rest of the videos in a real resolution in a little bit. They are probably waiting for the CS:CZ download bandwidth crunch to die down a bit.

The new vids aren't worth it: the only thing good about them is that you can hear the sound better than the handicam footage. The resolution is too low and there are too many artifacts to make the video footage more impressive.

Well PC zone (UK) is claiming that on the 29th this month they will have a massive preview and that they travelled to Valve and playtested the game.

they were told not to give out the info but they have decided too (doubt that "told not too" bit).

All the secrets revealed.....

whats new.....

why it was delayed.....
etc....

and PC gamer (UK) are saying on the 15th they will do the same.

except they dont claim to have play tested the game at valve so Zones preview will be 1st hand as apposed to gamers preview wich wont involve detailed acounts of how the game feels etc...

(in any case i will know by the 29th when i compare Zones to gamers preview)

:)

So if all the videos were included on the CZ CD then I guess they are still representative of the game's current state. I was hoping they'd work on the graphics if they were going to delay it.

F*ck, you said it.

Im tired of this silent treatment, they just piss me off. They know they have the power to screw us around, because we will buy it regardless..

Game Companies must remember, they work for us :)

PCZone over escilate their claims, always. If they were to publish info that valve has specificaly asked them not to, then they will get half a ton of lawers ontop of them. I'm not actually expecting Zone ot have played it. It will most likely just be a complete round up of everything since September and I woudln't be surprised if a lot of the content from this site is printed in the magazine.

That is if PC Zone isn't talking out of their ass, which they normally do. Weren't they the guys that first reviewed Unreal 2 "world exclusively" and gave it a 9.2? ... That's what I mean...

BTW Dux, is that code from HL1 SDK or HL2 code?

It's from the HL1 SDK.
