Or at least that's what i think the stage is called. Only just got HL2 on my new PC and i'm loving it. I've just got to the stage where i've left my water-speeder-thing (sorry i dont know the exact name) and gone inside to meet the rebels etc, where they scan you.

The girl there is apparently taking me to see Alyx, but when we walk off towards the elevator, she gets half way through the conversation when the elevator doors open then appears to stop. Nothing happens, ive tried walking into the elevator, nothing. She seems to stop when she says "If they knew what were doing they'd............" then nothing.

It happened earlier on in the game when there is an elevator scene right at the start, but that time i loaded it back up and the girl walked into the elevator and you follow her in. This time i've tried loading four times from four separate saved games files to know avail.

Any ideas guys?

Thanks
Tom

First question: Pirate yes/no?

If not, open up the devconsole by hitting ~ (you have to enable it in the options menu) and type ai_disable. (I think).

This is also a well-known problem with pirated copies, so...

Nope, legit copy. Opened up the dev console like you said, typed that in before she started talking. Did the same thing.

I tried it again when she abruptly stops and again, nothing.

Any ideas at all?

yep. buy the game.

verify your game cache with steam. you do know what steam is, right?

Aha, thanks Jintor. I think the ai_disable works when you load your game back up, so i've been able to get in the lift and go down. Works fine now. Thanks again guys.

Let you know if i have any more problems haha.

why do people ASK if people are pirates? Do you expect them to say yes?

If you suspect a pirate, please see this thread for the appropriate (and win) actions.

i wonder that myself. nice one jintor. just ask if they have steam instead.

notice how he just said "nope legit copy" then avoided all other questions about steam, and in fact went looking for a solution that DIDNT require steam? he just said "funny guy" when i told him to verify with steam. that tells me that he doesn't even have steam, and perhaps thinks most of us dont either. most people would have tried verifying with steam, or asked how to. its just a way to at least find out if they even have steam.

pirate imo.

Haha, no, i just chose to ignore ya since i presumed that's what most replies consist of to problems here - see if it's a legit copy.

To be honest i thought you were semi-joking, evidently not. So yeah, Steam, $20 a couple of days ago, what do you want, a receipt?

Anyway, thanks for the help guys, even you Stewie.

Why was I not there to see that thread! :(

Be sure to come back around if you need help later. We get a lot of people asking how to get by this problem who have pirated copies because it's a notorious issue with warez versions of HL2, so don't take offense at the insinuations :p

Who the hell are you, reincarnated Shasta?

whats a "shatsa", and what kind of dumb question is "are u a pirate?" to ask someone.
Shasta was some troublemaker they were having trouble with here. A "flamer" if you will.:hmph:

Well, given that I provided an actual solution to his problem aside from just being "ZOMG YOU ARE A PIRATE WTF", I sure helped a ****load more than you.

Eh, it's all moot anyway. My Steam is b0rked. -__-

actually, you potentially helped a pirate to use his pirated game. is that what you were hoping to do? do you not think its a good idea to find out if someone has a legal copy of the game first, when they come here asking about a problem that is mostly related only to pirates these days?

Yeah, reincarnated Shastabot. Whatever, no point dragging this out.
