problem in starting a new game

I bought the cd Half life 2 : episode 1 and when I'm starting a new game in half life 2.. a box appear allowing you to see the chapters of half life 2.. and when Im trying to open the chapter 1.. nothing happens.. but! half life 2 : episode 1 just works that it should be... please help..;(

Try typing: map d1_trainstation_01 in the console. (Press ~ to access the console)
